this is the third time i read this story.
in the meantime i've read a LOT of hiccstrid fanficts. you probably never read this, but i have to say: this is definitely top3 (actually no 1) for me.
well balanced, as canon as needed, no AU or other strange scenarios.

just a nice plot

Great story, a good read through and through. Though a note, for dialogue you should do "this" instead of 'this'. It's the proper way to signify so,embody is talking. Not that it made it hard to understand as I got used to it in the few hours it took me to completely read the story.
