|Reviews for Sleep, Brother|
| qwertzuiop4 chapter 1 . 3/20
". . . pillaging and killing and conquering and raping their way" - exactly! But this very realistic and historically correct backstory makes the later events even more depressing: Fight and you'll be killed and enslaved, don't fight and you'll also be killed and enslaved. (I wonder why only the Cherusci (somehow my ancestors) managed to defeat the Romans permanently in AD 9. Perhaps a part of the Roman success was psychological warfare, terrifying the natives beforehand so that they lost their nerves in battle.)

Just found this little treasure and I'm so very happy that I did. It is so bittersweet and heart wrenching. I can imagine that something like this would have happened to poor Esca. Trying to console his little brother with reassurances that all would be well. And then you remember that his brothers died along with their parents, and the only one left was Esca. It kind of makes you wonder how he did get to care for Marcus after this kind of tragedy? Wonderful story and beautifully written.

I really really like this. I love Esca and I have noticed his protectiveness of little boys. I hope you plan to continue writing this.
| Carmarthen chapter 1 . 11/29/2012
Very poignant and sweet! I think this fits well with Esca's survivor's guilt in both versions of canon; it's so sad that Bradán is right after all, and he'll be going on without Esca.

Very cute! And sad; I love the brother fluff. I hope to read more from you!
