| Guest chapter 22 . 12/2/2014
Arthur might be alive!
Think about it! Freya's and Lancelot's boats he both lit up, but what it Arthur was just unconscious? And Merlin knew?
| Guest chapter 22 . 12/1/2014
I love you! Quit any job you may possibly have and write Merlin (and Star Trek) fiction all day long. It would be a kindness to all mankind- we need you... and it's almost Christmas... and... any other possible reason to get you to write more often.
| Aurora02 chapter 22 . 12/1/2014
First of all: I couldnt stop laughing at the end of the scene. Tthe threat "I will write to your mohter" and Merlins reaction :D - its gorgeous.
I really can imagine Merlin blackmailing Arthur by complaining to Gwen: "He actually had me muck out his stables again, Gwen!" and Gwen getting angry about it, talking to Arthur about "not treating your best friend like that" and Gaius just sighning "boys..."
I resaw the scene with Athur funeral boat (I couldnt help but crying although I just know how its going to end). I think the difference between Freya, Lancelot and Arthur is that Arthur is this whole "Once and Future King" whose body goes to Avalon (the island with the tower). The myths say that Arthur was deadly injured when he reached Avalon- not dead. Maybe the writers wanted to express that, but I m not entirely sure, its just a theory. Perhaps it was also too painful for Merlin seeing his best buddy Arthur burning and so knowing without a doubt that he was dead...
All in all a wonderful written scene, I really do love your writing style!
| April29Roses chapter 22 . 12/1/2014
There is an amusing quality to this piece that really benefits from your light hand. You captured a more mature version of King/Warlock in the Golden Age by evoking their essential boyishness. Well done!
As to your P.S. comment, I must confess I never really thought about that particular detail. In my mind I find it in keeping with canon, as since Arthur is also the Future King, Merlin knew he would return. Somehow, I would not question the profound wisdom of his actions, (to shamelessly paraphrase Star Trek!) Many hugs!
| TwoRollsOfParchment chapter 22 . 12/1/2014
About the fire thing, d'you think it could possibly be because Arthur was the Once and Future King and according to prophecies would rise again, but Lancelot and Freya are absolutely and irrevocably gone? And therefore Merlin destroyed their bodies but not Arthur's?
Just a thought.
| Moon Fox chapter 22 . 11/30/2014
HAHAHA yeah, mom will put him straight!
I noticed that too (about the boat) But I'm still stuck on where the hell he stole the boats from to begin with.
