This chapter was amazing! It was so tense and I loved every second of it.

And this comes to a conclusion! Hot damn that was a tense chapter, being privy to Alex’s growing insanity and wondering why Elijah just wasn’t SHOWING himself. Elijah’s death is, to me, kind of a footnote, which is what is was in the chapter. Oh, I would have loved to see him squirm, and being eaten alive is a good punishment. But I was way concerned about our poor suffering protagonists.

“Cain was...something.” A friend. The word you’re looking for is friend, Alex :)

And Cain learns her lesson: she doesn’t care about losing her revenge, because Alex is alive and that’s what really matters. Shut up I don’t care if it’s a cheesy message, it’s still sweet and she needed to learn it besides.

I CALLED IT. I never mentioned it in my reviews but I was wondering if he could slip under the collar and “muffle” the explosion. And he did it. He took the bomb for her and he’s still lucid and she’s super abashed (if even more traumatized between him literally eating her skin and now this) and everything is ok!

...until they get back to Vegas. But shush, let me enjoy the triumphant and fuzzy feels.

First of all, thank you for the mention 3 Second of all, this chapter was amazing! Holy shit that was brutal!
The first half of the chapter is so well written. It is difficult to read, because of the point of view: you can really see Alex's sanity fray more and more with each paragraph. I was really scared for Cain for a minute.

And then, ahhh. So sweet. The final retribution for the bastard behind of all of this. It was beyond satisfying. And Alex is feeling so much better now (not good per se, but way better). Aaaand the bomb is also dealt with. Have I already said how much I love this chapter, this story, your writing? I don't care if I repeat myself.

Fucking amazing, definitely worth the wait. Love the near-beast Alex before he got to indulge on the munchies, and the ending was beautifully done.

A bit surprised that Cain didn't grab anything from the Vault though, a gold bar, a schematic, anything. Didn't really have time, I suppose.

I will admit to being sad to see the end of Dead Money though, the restrictions placed on Alex by the DLC forced creativity in how to use his strengths - and offset his weakness - to the fore, and, well, it is tied with Old World Blues as my favourite.

Very excited to see the aftermath though, what Christine will say, if Alex will go down and grab something for Cain, how House, Veronice, Arcade and the Brotherhood will react to her suddenly reappearing - and with the story of Elijah.

Fuck man, I'm all hyped for the next chapter now. Keep up the amazing work.

I love this story and I'm always happy to see it come back for another chapter. Kinda glad we're getting outta Dead Money I love the DLC and its story but some of the things that make it great are lost when translated into written format and I was starting to feel it drag a bit by the Gala series of quests. On reread, the section will prolly read better cause I'm not stopping mid-mission each time the chapter ends and I have to wait for the next. Speaking of re-reading that something I'll have to do now or at next chapters release cause the beginning of this story has gotten fuzzy for me so I'll prolly need a refresher on Cain and Alex in the Mojave.

YES! another chapter! Always excited to see this pop up on my alert list, can't wait to see Mercer and Cain return to the Mojave and see where this all goes. Top notch work as always :D!

I was wondering why he didn't do that at the start; hell, Alex is fast and strong enough to tear the collar off and have it several feet away before it explodes. This whole adventure was, other than killing Elijah and getting some gold, mostly pointless when Alex had so many options to remove the collar (that's not even mentioning how many explosives experts he's likely consumed who could have allowed him to just straight up disarm the damned thing. Sure, the other three would have died but Alex wouldn't give a shit. Still, this was quite the fun bonding experience for Alex and Cain, so I guess it's worth it. Regardless, it's always a delight to get another chapter of this story and I wish you good luck.

Good ending to it all-and that sentiment of Cain as Elijah died-karmic revange on him as he rages was meaningless, compared to them all surviving the casino.
