| too-much-inspiration chapter 1 . 1/17
Apparently it is likely that his soul would die a very long time before his body and magic would allow him rest. It is quite the philosophical exchange whether living forever alone is worse than dieing very young among friends. Either way, Arthur has no ability to force Merlin to leave without Merlin's consent. Sacking would have little effect, and banishing tends to work only slightly better. Thank you for posting.

This was awesome. Caring!Arthur is always something to behold and you portrayed him perfectly. Also, your use of Gwen as his sounding board was the ideal way to involve her in the relationship without losing any of the bromance between Arthur and Merlin that all we fans love so much.
Merlin's total and utter dedication was written really well and at the same time his cheekiness and unwillingness to obey everything Arthur commands him, came through strongly.
