Reviews for Something Lovely |

![]() ![]() ![]() How beautiful! You should have been a writer for Diwnton Abbey. I know Matthew would have had a much better fate. Great work |
![]() ![]() I just re-read this amazing chapter of yours. I never imaged they would kill of Matthew - so brutally in a car crush. I trust you - more than Julian Fellowes - to give us a small but important scene like this one between Tom and Lady Mary. They would be drawn together - like true brother and sister. I sincerely hope you will pen such a scene soon. |
![]() ![]() i was like that as well cause three weeks before i was born my grandpa died so when i was born i bacsically comfort my family |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was a really nice scene. Loved it, well done! So sad... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Gah. Well. I couldn't see properly through the tears. :( It's just so horrible that Tom was so happy and now it's just him and his baby. :( And I love that Matthew saw her as sister, because she'd seen him as a brother. And remembering her looking after him when he was injured. And neither of them knowing what to do to comfort the baby. :( Gah it's lovely, and beautifully written as always, but it's just so sad. :'( |
![]() ![]() ![]() I still can't rewatch episode 5, it still breaks my heart to just think about it. I just don't think I would be able to read a Branson's point of view on it, so I'm glad you didn't go down that road and so happy you dealt with it through Matthew's eyes and tears. Sad, but beautiful ficlet. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, how wonderful that Matthew remembers Sybil helping to care for him... and so sweet about the trousers story. I do hope we see Matthew reaching out to Tom. Well done! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm much into Matthew-Tom bromance (and discreetly hoping Matthew will be asked to be godfather), thank you! That was a lovely read. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh... oh goodness, this was just so beautiful. :( So emotionally resonant, so heartfelt and heartwarming! I knew I would love your Matthew, but your Branson was simply fantastic - pleading to his daughter not to cry was absolutely heartbreaking, and Matthew taking the baby (SIGH) and being afraid he would drop her (AWW!) was such a wonderful moment. :( OMG the gorgeous exchange about how Branson said Sybil *did* value Matthew as a brother (and AHH, his remembrance of her taking care of him during the war, aww!) was so excellently written, and I LOVED the memory Matthew came up with of Sybil that unbeknownst to him, Branson shared! This was "something lovely" indeed - lovely writing, characterization, all of it just so lovely. :) Please keep writing! :D |
![]() ![]() ![]() This made me cry, so beautiful :) Matthew just trying to comfort Tom the best he can - and that scene from S1 being included was also funny. I do hope they call the baby Sybil in canon as well, it would only be appropriate :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() You made me actually cry...well done. |
![]() ![]() ![]() *awww* This was a nice missing slice for Tom and Matthew. What now? Yes, they are brothers. It will be interesting to see this evolution because Tom does have a brother but Matthew never has - and his thought of Sybil's joy over their finally being brothers was powerful. He did look out for her that way (as he is doing with Edith too) and Tom does notice these things. And I did laugh when you used the canon window peering! Bravo! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aww the bromance continues! Poor Tom! That was a lovely fic. I loved that it ended on a bittersweet note! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, this is lovely! I am devastated over Sybil - was completely choked up during the whole scene, even though I'd guessed what was coming as soon as she lay down to sleep after the birth. Gah! As my Mum said when it was over, "Doctors disagree; people die." So horribly true! (The one time Clarkson was right about something!) |
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved that this was Matthew focused - and that there are hints of light in the darkness - the baby and their brotherhood are things which will support Tom going forward. Matthew was perfectly written. I loved it! Well done :) |
