Great one shot! I'm glad House decided to call. It'll do both of them a world of good. It did open some questions though...but I'll have to go read the next story for those answers...

Super cute! A nice break from the normal seriousness of the Pranks series. Great job!

Hi In the House,
thanks for that lovely House family story. I was nervous myself when House dialed Thornton's number and, finally, spoke to him. But it was a nice talk as a start and I'm looking forward to further personal communication between the two of them. And the "bed scenes" with Abby and Rachel were sweet. Definitive, House is the master of manipulation.

Very lovely story. Lots of sweet and touching and funny parts. Liked the bit with "House had stopped the return tease mailing after only the one picture of him playing the piano because Thornton seemed to genuinely appreciate it and was delighted to have his son participate in their exchange, totally missing the point that he was supposed to be resenting hanging on a postal hook, too." Glad that House didn't go into a chocolate cake flashback and made such progress with Thornton instead, good for him!

Oh, great story!

So the curse is broken! ;)
Nice snapshot of Abby and the entire family and their environment two years on-so much progress has been made on all sides, slow, not without significant hitches here and there, but steady for all that. House's voluntary conversation with Thornton is the best proof. There's a slight lowering of defenses, shown mainly in his recognition of the cheap shot at Thornton's wife and his father's pain. Very Houseian, to offer an apology without seeming to do so.
Lovely story. I thoroughly enjoyed this, as always.

I can't wait for the next part in the series to start. My mind is running wild wondering what you are going to come up with next. My guess is it will have something happening to Thornton. But please don't make us wait to long.

Terrific one shot. Loved the phone call and the birthday party. Can't wait until Thorton actually gets to meet the girls.

Sweet family story, and glad to see progress between House and Thornton. The line that got to me most here, though, was Thornton saying about his horse, "I tend to talk to her a lot when we're out alone, especially since . . ." That one line summed up his loneliness beautifully, his wife gone, his (acknowledged) son gone, his other son mad at him for missing everything even though he tried to follow his life from a distance, and with granddaughters that he didn't even know until today their names. Poor guy. They would all be so good for each other. Hope House continues to let him in.

It just occurred to me that House & Cuddy will have 2 two year olds for 2 months. :) Loved this addendum to the Pranks-verse; they do seem sort of justified in their fears, since Abby's birthday has gone 2 for 2 in ugly incidents. But I'm glad it was nipped in the bud here. Was really surprised to read about House's call to Thomas; he's going to be a great grandad to the girls eventually...
I think my favorite mental picture is Abby and Rachel, squeezed together in the recliner, singing Happy Birthday. I'm just constantly amazed at this complete world you've created and maintained, with believable and fascinating original characters to go along with more logical versions of the ones we saw on-screen.

What a treat! And I'm glad they actually talked. I love that you allow your characters to evolve without being out of character, something that the show painfully lacked, at least in the later seasons. The girls are sweet, but not too sugary. I could almost feel Thornton holding his breath when he received the call. As you describe him, we can clearly see that he is related to House. Funny how he contributed to House's epiphany. And how clever of him to leave a bait for his son to think about (the talking horse) whereas he seems to be the role model of patience. Hopefully House will soon realize that he would be the ideal grandfather for the girls. I'm very much looking forward to your next story. I always read your stories first when updates appear on FFnet.

Very gd and glad House giving some info to Thornton.

love it! glad something good has happened in that week, i was beginning to think it was eternally cursed! I like that House talked to his dad too. Hope he'll have at least a functioning relationship eventually. Thanks, keep writing. xxx

I love I love I love.
Cuddy eavesdropping was great. I really do love how you took what the writers threw out and ran with it.
Abigail Lisa is going to be quite a handful now that she's 2. I can see it all now. Tantrums and more smacking of Rachel. Oh, and the infamous SHUT UPs!

I'm so glad he's reaching out to Thornton... love the dance they're dancing.
