Just dropping a line that this is the second or third time I have read this story. Hope you decide to take up writing again in the future.
| sfjoellen chapter 1 . 11/5/2014
I left a review for this story about a week ago. In that review I badly overreacted to a bit of this story and accused the author of some really rather terrible things.
I am not a lawyer, I've no idea what is legal to publish. For me to say this story is illegal was idiotic and wrong.
I think a Supreme Court Justice said: "I can't define porn but I know it when I see it." Clearly this story is not porn and my labeling it as such was wrong.
I apologize especially to the author, but to the community at large as well, for degrading the level of discourse, for not showing the respect deserved, for failing in restraint of pen and tongue.

well.. i'm a big H/Hr fan. but they are 11 and 12. slow deep kisses, rubbing of 'areas' while asleep.. dude it's kiddie porn, sorry if that hurts your feelings but that's underage sexual activity and it's wrong and it's illegal. please edit it out.

An extremely well written story. Unfortunately, there haven't been any updates in over a year. Looking forward to seeing some new developments on the story hopefully someday soon. Keep up the great work!

| Runecutter chapter 13 . 5/1/2014
I think you underestimated the delay a tiny weeny bit ;)
It's now 13 months without update and that's double the length between the first and last chapter were posted, so ... well it's definitely longer than the last time :P
I like this story. It treads a careful path on the narrow grate between falling down into the big pool of soulbond clichés and stereotypes and the lofty areas of "trying to invent something new that will not make any sense at all" and deals with the problems and challenges of such a bond in a pretty mature and adult way without having the kids turn into instant grown-ups and ignoring their child perspectives and mannerisms... That's rare to find, many stories just take the comfortable shortcut of having them use the bond to jumpstart a relationship without any courting problems and emotional stresses, neglect the potential for friction even if you share the contents of your head witht he other person and all in all show the process too solidly positive and good to be true. I think your story has taken up these challenges in stride and evaded all those problems in a laudable way.
I loved that Quirrell got headaches from their love and happyness until he could no longer stand to even teach them a full lesson without going almost mad and that the stone was not really mentioned in any important way for the young couple. That kind of fine but important difference to the "original story" is what makes a "what if" idea really live up and shine and it was by far not the only two examples of these little bits in your 13 chapters.
While i can understand when real life and maybe even a change in interests has made you leave writing and fandom behind, it would be nice to see where this story might have headed and what else it could have watched and shown in a completely new light.
As for the bit with the vikings... well, i like the stories as written by zArkham and he as some others from the yahoo groups of Rorschach's Blot and kinsfire like to include bits about this time too, mainly that Potter and Longbottom played important roles at that time and that Malfoy was cursed by the English as he was a traitor that delivered muggle and magical England to the norman invaders, but his Potter is an english mage, not french like a follower of Charles II would need to be.
Still if you like the idea that they came from french i've had an idea along time ago that Potter might be a bastardization of the original french surname of Poitiers (like in Tours and Poitiers, the double battle where Charles the Hammer beat the Muslims and stopped them in Spain instead of letting them conquer France and the rest of Europe too :D) that was changed into a word the British knew how to spell over the centuries. (a bit like there is a noble family spelling themselves Death that started out as D'eath or something like that.)
Likewise it could be a nickname that got turned into a family name and surpassed the original family name. Like Charles was "the Simple" his loyal bannerman the baron d'Orville (or that man's grandson ruling over the conquered lands in Britain) might have been called "the Potter" for owning a lucrative claypit and cottage industries amongst his followers... stranger things have happened during the middle ages :D
I guess what i want to say is: there's no reason to let yourself be disspirited about your choices to explain old history. There's nothing forbidding any plausible attempt to tell Harry's background and there are a thousand ways to explain how a french knight or noble ended up with an english surname :)

OMG is this real? A one way ticket to Pleasantville all expenses paid?
That is SOOOO cheesy. :D
But you are right, while it seems hurtful to write or read about it they need to talk about it or it will never stop to haunt him and limit his reactions... And it's cute to see the little ones work it out. :)
| Runecutter chapter 4 . 4/16/2014
Hey, that might be the sweetest, most romantic description of falling in love i've ever seen... She felt she belonged. Perfect.
Not quite as sure about the "Black Death" theory... why it might be a nice little side story to have this event start the decline of the great and one time noble house of Black into what Walburga Black stands for and tried to beat and screech into Sirius' head, there's also the small little thing called enlightenment and that we by now know the bacterium called Yersinia Pestis for quite some time and so maybe ONE break out in a limited region of Europe might be ascribable to the incident Dumbledore talks about, but not ALL the Black Death in all its waves and incarnations over hundreds of years and whatever. Maybe it might have been better to use the Dementors as result of this sould bond ripped asunder, i don't know... (and tbh when i first got to the line about 650 years i almost instantly assumed that it was meant to be the Flamels having found that soul bond as a positive example of this kind of magic :) Instead you went with the worst possible case scenario.)
