Why does Ennis have to be so frustrating? lol

Ennis is quite a selfish person. Now that Alma is dead, he wants Jack to drop everything and move down to live with him. Not once has he thought about the fact that he is asking Jack to do same thing that he has refused to do - leaving his family.
Only when he needs Jack, he is giving him a chance of having a life together. Almost expects Jack to be ready at a moment's notice.

I am happy that Jack managed to blackmail L.D in order to keep his family safe. But I can't help but feel sorry for those unpaid Mexican workers. If Jack is going to the cops about their horrific treatment, then they will continue to be exploited by L.D.

Woohoooo,way to go Ennis. He has really outdone himself.
First for standing up to Amy about his love for Jack, & the foresight to use Amy's own sin against her.
Then, admitting to a total stranger about their relationship. And finally, overcoming his own fear of what being totally involved with Jack sexually.

I am enjoying this story. However, I feel it is a bit out of character that you portray Ennis is the more affectionate than Jack in their own marriage. By his own admission, Ennis knew he did not love Alma after he met Jack. Whereas Jack had an genuine attraction to Lureen. Right from the time they met with the dance in the bar & what took place in Lureen's vehicle afterwards.

Really? Ennis still can't say I love you to Jack? Surely since being married to Alma all those years he must said it at some point.
If he can say it to Alma who he feels less strongly about than Jack. You would think after all the fishing trips over the years and the fact that Jack had said it to him first, he would at least say it back.

Glad to see Mr. Twist finally got put in his place, I've been waiting for it! Though I wish it had been Jack who did it instead of being such a sissy and Ennis always having to rescue him, I mean in the movie Jack told off Mr. Newsome good. I wish Ennis could've stood up to Mr. Twist like that at the end of the movie.

Been reading some of your fics lately...I don't get why you always make Jack weak, submissive, delicate, etc. like he's the 'girl' when the movie or short story didn't make him seem that way, and Ennis is always the big strong 'protector'. It seems like all your fics are like that. Ennis and Jack were much more equals in the movie except in the beginning when Ennis couldn't face it. But I guess that's just your impression of it. Anyway your a good writer, I only wish you'd make Jack more of a man in your fics! If Ennis had wanted to be with a delicate little fragile woman, he would of stayed with Alma, right?
