Oh, they were gorgeously young and naive and brilliant, weren't they? *sob* I've recently started watching S1 again, and I just want to cry at how they poked and needled each other and were entirely unaware of what lay ahead of them.

This is lovely! Now I can imagine that they'll live happily ever after since they got their act together much sooner. ;)

Loved this! I just rewatched this episode and I got annoyed at that scene all over again for her not going after him, so this was so perfect to read. I miss S1 too, thanks for taking us back to the days of young M/M :)

Well, it looks like we all love returning to S1; those early days of Mary and Matthew's searching and their innocence of all the troubles and sorrows to come. Your Mary and Matthew are so real and IC in their emotions, actions/reactions, and the dialog... brilliant new dialog and use of canon lines. I agree with Pemonynen that this was the most believable of the S1smut stories. And yes, we all wanted to shove Mary out the door.
I found that this story worked wonderfully as a Mary/Matthew scene without the smut. It stands so well on its own. It was the emotions and conversation that had me gripped even before the first kiss. How about editing it to have them finish with kissing and then the final dialog and Mary's thoughts? Then the story could be appreciated by those readers who won't/don't/can't read M-rated stories.

I love S01 AU fics! I don't exactly know what it is. Maybe because they're so naive and innocent. Perhaps it's because there was so much unsaid between them. Whatever it is I love that you've explored 1.05. ! Great story!

I really liked this on so many levels. Taking us back to season one M/M was a wonderful treat. You captured them at beginning of new love. It would be wonderful if you continued with this to see how young, naive Matthew would have handled the news of Mary's past. I have no idea how you did this but you made it sexy and sweet. I love how Matthew gave her a million chances to make sure she really wanted to. I heart them. Very well done.

I think that this is my favourite of the S1 smut AUs, because (and this is tricky to explain but I know what I mean so just go with it) it's probably the most plausible. Well, plausible in the sense that it's the right time in their relationship. The feelings are there, they're just choosing not to address them *yet*. I love how you reworked his conversation with Isobel from canon to make it fit and also the "convincing" bit as well. :p As for the smut itself. Definitely incredibly stupidly very HOT, with them being outside and in the dark and clothed... YES. And him touching the bare skin of her thigh and her touching his back but not being able to *see*...UNF. Ahem. And the ending as well...aaahhh! :) Although I would love to see how she'd tell him about Pamuk now... :-/

OMG THIS IS AMAZING! :D S1, in all of its tentative, wonderous glory - and as always, you capture M/M so incredibly well. :) I LOVE how you incorporated the flower show dialogue (and Matthew's lament to his mother) into their convo here! :) And I ADORED the subtle way you had Mary admit her regard for Matthew (comparing favorably to Strallan) - SO very S1 Mary! You brought back the breathless wonder of S1, when every touch meant a great deal, and a kiss...SIGH. :D I just LOVED how Mary realized Matthew would stop if she asked, and how different it was from Pamuk and the ungodly SCORCHING hot smut (his hand on her bare thigh...:faints:) and the fact that he wants to speak to her father is SO S1 Matthew, it's just too wonderful for words. Just a FANTASTIC trip down memory lane - sweet, hot and SUCH a treat! Thank you so much for this! Keep writing! :D
