Too bad that Dumbles the dork is only just now, after 45 years realizing that there is a problem with the position, and that he wasn't smart enough to give Harry any authority to go along with the responsibility for teaching the littles.
This is an interesting story, thanks for sharing it with us.

Poor Harry and Ginny
| Runecutter chapter 6 . 8/31/2013
The potion lab in the tower is a wonderful idea, i can see how even the students that know about it (and wouldn't it have beeen just handy ins econd year instead of the toilet? :D) would not bother using as being a Gryffindor basically disqualifies you from ever going anywhere in Snape's classes... then they stopped telling the firsties about it and... sometime nobody needed or used it anymore. Might even be another black spot on Minerva's vest, she should have noticed and started to routinely telling her First Years about it if only to keep it from becoming prankster's paradise and maybe getting some of them being interested enough in potions to study on their own or not completely give up the subject after leaving Hogwarts.
Seeing Ginny so mature about her thoughts towards Harry and their chances or chances of Molly butting in and doing something ugly was also nice. I like them interacting so peacefully without any romantic subnotes. But he'll have to find somebody to beat the other thoughts out of his head soon... "He wasn't blind he could see no girl would ever want to date him" Whisky Tango Foxtrott? You can't plan on having him such little self value for long, can you?
As for "the curse"... why didn't Dumbledore ever step in when no other teacher could be found? Fifth year when he was relieved from both other jobs and was just headmaster he should have been able to argue that his qualification could not possibly outranked by anybody the ministry could send and the newly freed up time would be better spent teaching the kids in a similar way to the DA than with just sitting around and watching Umbridge reap havoc... likewise sixth year... his trust into Severus nonewithstanding, he should never have given that important subject to him thereby ruining TWO subjects for the kids NEWTs

I will state that second year was an exception. Lockhart did not try to kill Harry. He only wanted Harry's memory gone.
In fact the whole incident would have been completely avoided had Harry and Ron shown some amount of common sense.
I mean, they had the man disarmed, they knew that he was a fraud, and thus useless, and they also knew that he had tried to erase their memories before divesting him of his wand!
A normal person would have just left the idiot there!
But no. Those two bright sparks decide to take the moron with them.
And to do what? Fight an ancient deadly creature that can kill with a look, and is seemingly immortal seeing as it is older than Flamel!
I think that would be singularly the most stupid decision they have ever made in their lives.

Good chapter, and a beginning in the relation ship between Harry and Ginny. even if it's now just as 'friends'.
hope you update soon
| MrNeedsToRemoveAllFavs chapter 3 . 8/22/2013
Pretty sure Harry was told before the end of the year that it was an extremely powerful confundus charm on the Goblet that forced to forget that there were only three schools in the tournament.
In fact, I'm pretty sure Barty Crouch Jr. admits that he put it in under a fourth school to Harry, and told him how at the beginning.
...though, I'm not sure if there was a "you can't put some other person's name in" rule beyond somebody saying that was a rule. In fact, beyond the "3 schools only" rule that is the only thing I can remember being part of the Goblet itself besides the whole "magically binding contract." Every other thing was cast around the goblet, wasn't it?
