I miss Bobby's kick-in-the-ass style of advice. It was always exactly what the boys needed.

this was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! :)

They did seem to get happier between those eps, I can imagine it happening like this.

My apologies in advance; I know this is too long, but so much of this said so many things that I feel so strongly and never had the words or talent to express.
THANK YOU FOR THIS:
"And you threw your brother over for an angel, but I guess it's OK if you do it."
"I mean – it's not like Sam lived a year knowing that you were going to hell because of him. It's not like he had to watch you get ripped to shreds by hellhounds, or had to slop your guts back into your belly to put your body in the car, or had to bury you. It's not like you left him thinking there was no choice but revenge. It's not like you left him all this past year thinking you weren't on his side at all and the only way he could redeem himself was to do whatever he had to, to off Lilith, no matter what it took or what kind of mess it left him in. If it left him alive at all. No, you didn't do any of that, did you?"
"Oh wait – you did."
“All Sam wanted, all Sam ever wanted, was to save you, avenge you, protect you. All he knew was that killing Lilith was the way to do it and he was willing to die himself to make that happen."
"John talked at Sam, you talked to Sam. Until this past year when you turned into John Winchester 2.0 and started telling Sam instead of asking him. Instead of listening to him."
"You let those angels get their wings in you and Sam never had another chance with you. As far as he could tell, same as when you were in hell, he was on his own. And Sam on his own when he doesn't want to be is a mighty shaky thing."
"He'd left Sam out to dry. He'd yelled and punched and demanded and ignored Sam, but had he ever just sat down and talked to him? He'd been so scared of what might happen to Sam, he didn't look at what was happening to Sam, right there in front of him. Not until it was too late.
“Just remember – Sam was trying to protect you too, the only way he knew how."

That was both heartwrenching and hopeful, nice job as always.

Trust you to set things right with them - and to put Sam's side so well, so credibly - this brother is in need of all his devoted supporters right now to remind us all that we are allowed to be sympathetic towards him too. You also reminded me how much I miss Bobby - we still need *a* Bobby. Thanks.

Ahhh if only Bobby was still around to open the boy's eyes the way he used to. I liked the inference about Dean and John. This was true and a very good observation. Glad to see you back.

And you threw your brother over for an angel, but I guess it's OK if you do it."
Great truth and great job on this fic. From beginning to end I loved it and read it twice to absorb so many feelings and truths that he read. Always very intense and real your stories, I missed you, hope you are better soon and come back over here. Particularly to strengthen the brotherly love and that protective Dean takes me so strange in this season 8

This should have been 5x02 beginning to end! You wrote perfection! Your Bobby voice was perfect.

Just once I wish there was a story where Bobby read Sam the riot act over how he treated his brother, too. Dean made mistakes, and he pushed Sam away out of hurt and anger here. But yes, he is entitled to that at this for a little bit, no matter what Bobby thinks. If Sam's actions can all be rationalized by his pain and no one ever calls him out on it but Dean, who is apparently wrong to do so, why don't Dean's feelings justify his actions? I wish someone had been on Dean's side here, because he deserves someone in his corner the way Bobby is in Sam's. Honestly, I think that's part of the reason why Dean's issues with Sam are spilling out all over the screen this season-people have berated him into shoving them down and shoving them aside for so long and now he just can't do it anymore. If Dean and Sam had really worked things out in S5 inside of just stowing it to deal with the apocalypse, perhaps they wouldn't be in the mess they are now, at least not to the degree that they are.
Still, I did like them coming back together. Dean more often than not is the one to make concessions and try to meet in the middle, so that felt very true to character. I like Sam being nervous but willing to take the olive branch offered. I don't know, I like the idea of exploring the days right after 5.1, but this feels very one-sided. It'd be nice if Sam had spent some time thinking about how Dean felt right then, instead of just worrying about how Dean's anger affected him and their relationship. If Dean needs to get out of his own head, Sam does, too. Maybe there should be a second chapter to this where Bobby chews Sam's behind for his actions the same way he did Dean's, and Sam spends some time thinking about how he should have thought more about his brother. You're a good writer, and I know you could do a good job with it.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I loved Bobby's take on Sam's actions! I wish the show had let Bobby go off like that! Then maybe they could have moved away from all the fighting and gotten back to the brotherly love we all love and miss so much! :)
