Oh man, this made me tear up. You have created an amazing back story for L, it all makes sense now!
| Beryl Bloodstone chapter 1 . 12/25/2012
Wow, interesting take on his origin! I always thought it would sound believable if his parents (both or one) had criminal ties.

Well that was a great read right before collapsing into bed after a late shift...
But on to more constructive things, I really liked it. I felt so sorry for Karol, even as she got more and more unstable. And telling it from her viewpoint was brilliant; I felt gutted when L rejected her and had to remind myself how messed up she was and how she couldn't be a good or responsible parent after the things she'd done. I do wish the reveal had come when L was a bit older, mostly because it's hard to see how he could have made the connection and it would be in keeping for him to repudiate someone who'd raised him once he discovered the truth. All the same, this was beautifully written and really made me think about love and its misuse. Very lovely job!

Very well done! I thought this was a very believable "option" of L's early childhood years. I loved how fleshed out L's parents and Karol are! In just one little one-shot, you are able to give strong, unique voices to the OCs. I also loved how you tied in little things here and there that explain L's quirks, such as his love for sweets and how Karol would line his sippy cups with sweet tastes. And the ending dialogue is great as well - perfect touch! Thanks for the great read!
| Ratt9 chapter 1 . 12/19/2012
This was very well done. It was both brilliant and beautiful, and a very original take on L's childhood.
