If you are still interested in creating another bonus chapter, perhaps you could do one about the 3D2Y special? I think it really fits with this story, considering (spoiler alert) that when Luffy is fighting World, World had a tendency to rub Ace's death on his face constantly while they were fighting and kept being all "you can't protect anybody." Well, overall, it's your decision.

This was an amazing fic to read; I particularly enjoyed the depth you went into in regards to the reasoning of why certain actions are taken, especially with the relationship between Luffy and Zoro.

RIP Ace always love yah. this chapter made me cry. I always cries when it comes to Ace. I remember watching the ep and cheering thinking they were gonna make it. this chapter along with that episode are ones that can easily be given the title of WATERWORKS

I'm sad. I finally found the story I was looking for, only to find out that it is gone. If not for the false site thebuystock, I wouldn't have found its nmae. Misunderstanding posted August 31 2010. Ch.432 Jack in the Box page 4. Shocking news: Red Hair Shanks and Monkey D. Luffy are an unexpected couple. (keywords that I found it by.) Unfortunately,I can't find the authors name. I can't even find a trace of it apart from that. And after 5 days of looking...I'm depressed. So I am re-reading your story in hopes that it will cheer me up.

I found this piece to be highly enjoyable and tearful at the same time. Though I still wonder how I found it while looking for a one shot where the Straw Hats and Garp thought Luffy to be in a relationship with Shanks, to which he blushed. It was actually very hilarous with the news spreading around the world and reaching Shanks ears...LOL Red Haired reaction was funny and Mihawk actually congradulated him on it. (I wish I could find it...)

Anyways, as much as I enjoyed this story it has comitted a bit of a crime. A serious one if you're the type to panic. Copyright Infringement. You copied far too much of the original source. While it may have been important to do so, it still a crime. You can only copy so much but even then it is risky. You not only risk the stories deletion, but your account could get suspended or removed for it. And lets not forget the risk of a lawsuit if copyright holders decided to sue.

I know you are proud of the story, but lookat it this way.. for newbies it can be used as a major spoiler so they don't have to watch or read the chapters to know what happened. Let's not forget if someone were to do this (copy your entire work) without your permission, you wouldn't like it very much. Especially if this was your lively hood they were messing with.

P.S. One of the things I love most about One Piece is that Oda won't include romance. This makes me happy. Plus Luffy being Asexual (it seems). I'm Asexual myself, and it makes me proud to share such a trait with a favorite character. He's one and only true love is meat and adventure.

This is one of my favorite arcs in all of One Piece and this battle is absolutely amazing. This was one of the most physically taxing battles that Luffy has ever fought based almost entirely on raw strength and endurance. You have portrayed it really well.

Other than the battle with Crocodile most of the fights that Luffy was in never scared me too much, he never was hurt too badly and always found a way to win in spectacular fashion. This one, however, really scared me the first time I watched it. I had never seen him pushed this far and or be this injured before the battle had ended. To see him lying in a pool of his own blood with Usopp screaming at him to keep fighting was truly terrifying, and even after he won to suddenly realize that he couldn't get to safety and his friends couldn't reach him almost convinced me that maybe he really would die. Great job at capturing the intensity of that battle!

My only real disappointment, which has nothing to do with you or your writing, is the fact that Luffy seemed to recover so quick. I mean, he couldn't move at all at the end of the battle, but within an hour or so could stand in a boat for quite a long time when they had Merry's funeral. It seemed very out of place to me and I would have expected a longer recovery based on how badly he must have been injured. Sigh. Guess we can't have everything...

Luffy's Gears really do take a lot out of him. Between the Gears and what happened at Impel Down his lifespan has gotten considerably shorter. I'm hoping that Oda will end the story when Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, but from the way things are going I wonder if it will end with Luffy having congestive heart failure (with no way for a transplant since a regular heart wouldn't work in his rubber body) at the end of a great battle. Now that his crewmates know the dangers, they are going to have a harder time accepting his frequent use of his Gears in battle. Not that he'll listen...

This is really, really good! I love the way you draw out observations and add your own "missing scenes" that add depth and a touch of angst to the story. This is actually my second time reading this so I thought I'd drop some reviews along the way (but not every chapter 'cause that would be overwhelming).

I really like your Luffy. He seems a little more realistic and human with the fears and doubts you are drawing out. The extra scene where he and Ace talked was really good, and not surprising since Luffy really hasn't had anyone to be completely honest with and must have really needed it. Zoro and Luffy have a very unique relationship and the tension that is underlining it based on how they met is now effecting quite a lot of things. It is a very plausible reasoning and I find myself agreeing with you on much of it. In fact, I even went back and tried to find that scene in the anime only to realize that it wasn't a part of the anime.

What surprised me was that Chopper and the others didn't know about Luffy being impaled. I would have thought that even if Chopper hadn't been the one to initially treat his captain that the doctor who did would have mentioned it to him, and that he would have told the others about it. I'm pretty sure that Luffy wasn't in bed for 3 days simply from the poison...

Thanks for the great story. I've read other memory fics that have a similar premise, but this is the only one I have found thus far that has a real purpose for the Strawhats to be watching their captain's memories and does a good job of not getting distracted with memories that don't have much to do with the real reason they're there. Every memory in this story helps show what Luffy is going through and distractions are kept to a minimum. I love it!

I love to reread this fanfic this all over again and again. I'm still hoping for that bonus chapter! :) And some story where you declare Zoro as official first mate to the crew and enemy they yet may face. But, still. I love this! :)
