I get the feeling it's going to become horrible pretty soon. When the swarm begins to get really big, maybe Harry's consciousness won't impact as much on the swarm mind, like, protecting his friends and stuff.

And then the swarm will only react by its basest instincts, like survive, grow, evolve.

Kinda like replicators in Stargate . One is ok, but you lose control and you unleash something really bad on the world, and it seems like he's slowly but surely losing control. Which is good, want to see everything going FUBAR.

You wrote Ginny really, really well and encapsulated why people dislike her without bashing her. This is as close to in character Ginny as I've seen while still doing that.

One thing though... why do all the new creatures have 'zerg' in front of their names?
Zerglings are the only units that start with 'zerg', 'lisk' and 'ling' are used the most.

Well I'm glad to hear it's not dead, interesting additions, but the Swarm raises a good point, even in the campaign of the first 2 games the Overmind could last awhile on hits. I remember having to drop 3 simultaneous nukes just to kill it in game 1. So Harry needs to improve the process of swarm assimilation. I just had a thought, wouldn't Snape or Dumbledore pick up on the psionic network if they tried legilimency on Harry?

It's nice to see the reactions of the others, but I think that Hermione should have put the wards BEFORE ginny entered the room, after all they were going to talk about the zerg...

So that's my only peeve, there is no reason for ginny to be there, of course she could be suspicious about what they are talking and try to pry and in the future they would have to tell her, If the need arise, but IMO you didn't do the scene very well.

Maybe she used one of thoose extendable ears from the twins...

zergtaurs can replicate without a hive if reactivated? interesting... and the magic sight will be useful in scouting. Being fast and shiz, the combination makes them exemplary scouts.
And no worries about the hiatus. I'm glad you're back and we can keep reading this fic. The slight pause is almost nothing compared to some hiatuses I've been privy too (like 18 months...)

Guess the earliest that will happen is when they are all on the run from the DE's after Dumbles snuffs it. (And when returning to Hogwarts is not possible anymore)

Besides...after assimilating a few Death Eaters the swarm will know all about magic anyway and then they won;t need to go to school anymore.

Getting DNA samples from Tonks & Fluer, could probably help Harry, even if he agrees to Zergification.
Why?
Their magical powers, it might help him hide things like scales or distract someone from seeing a nearby Zergling.

Harry should also try and get Dragon DNA and then get up in space as fast as possible.
Rods from god might help him with dealing with Voldy.
