Blade of Sparda chapter 1 . 1/9/2014 Damn I just love your writing style and portrayals of Obito's character. |
dragonball256 chapter 1 . 5/12/2013 Wow this was an incredible story, really captured Obito's mindset during all these times. Also That explains alot about why the Mist had the Bloodlimit purges too. |
gillian32 chapter 1 . 1/26/2013 "It does not take much. Yagura's mind breaks, snapping under the weight of his horror and guilt, and quietly Obito steps forward and tips Yagura's head back. He plies a thin layer of genjutsu and is pleased to see how his eyes roll back into the sockets, the tension in his body dissipating and going slack. Yagura's body is a house with its walls collapsed on itself, brittle bones and taut skin, and soon enough the hairline fracture of Yagura's fragile mental state gives way and weakens, until everything opens, the cave of Yagura's mind gaping like a torn out eye." GUH. My favorite part, ever. I had to login to leave proper feedback and also to add this to my favorites. This is really wonderful. I hope to read more from you soon! |
gillian32 chapter 1 . 1/24/2013 I can't see this as anything other than canon; really great grasp on the characters, Obito and Yagura especially. I only wish this were a multi-chapter fic so i can bask in this universe you've created. Lovely work. |
Hevith de Zar chapter 1 . 1/21/2013 Since I have always been immensely attracted to Kirigakure. And, since I'm a crazy fan of Kisame, I puzzled wondering why Obito Kirigakure took the cataclysm. And, even though I thought, never interacted with the death of Rin Obito infiltration in the village. Now I have found the answer to my question, but arise more. As for your work as a writer. I find it very satisfying. I was nice to read a fic in which priority is given to other issues, away from romance and comedy. My in horabuena. |
Moshyin chapter 1 . 1/17/2013 That was beautifully written and such a pleasure to read! You have a way with words and similes. I loved your prose and the fact that I learned a couple of words from reading this wonderful story. I will be on the lookout for more! |
akajust1 chapter 1 . 1/2/2013 this is pretty much obito's POV |
Diablo Snowblind chapter 1 . 1/2/2013 That...was a rare kind of fantastic. Excellent writing. Just, fantastic. |
Girl of Blue Fire chapter 1 . 1/1/2013 Epic Review no Jutsu incoming! Ok first of all - what a New Years Day present! I really don't know how you do it. These amazing stories keep coming, one after the other and each better than the last. I am actually quite envious but grateful because as a reader it's a real treat. I hope this review isn't too over the top but as someone else said its just so nice to get such quality so I'm going to give it the review it deserves. 1)Amazing description, coupled with concise, interesting political points then expand on canon. 'It is a tactical decision, first and foremost: the Akatsuki war machine needed seed money, and the meager offerings from petty jobs aren't enough to stock the war chest that Obito desired. The most expedient way would be to offer his unique set of services, and what better customer was there than a village whose leadership was in constant flux and whose populace was torn in the midst of a civil war? Then there is the fact that Yagura is a jinchuuriki, an obvious advantage. It is the proverbial killing of two birds with one stone, shoring up the war chest and garnering a tailed beast in the process. That the Blood Mist was also most certainly responsible Rin's death is only an added benefit, and while Obito knows the costs of involving himself in unnecessary conflict, the thought of exacting revenge proves too tempting to refuse.' 2)Amazing imagery and description - '...when Obito enters there's nothing but a rush of blurred colors and white noise, and the grayscale of dark that's upended with the sudden starburst of blood.' '...he watches the fog roll and how the thin streaks of watery sunlight crest the horizon...' 'Embers rise on the up-current, kissing the nighttime air, and Obito watches, fire reflected in his eyes, and wonders when his heart too will shrivel up like so much paper.' This. This, right here is my favourite line. Perfect, poetic, descriptive, sublime and yet simple. I know it's silly to get so worked up over one line but I could just see it and I know from slaving over mine own stuff that lines like this are inspired as so often when I try for those lines it sounds overly wordy. 'Visitors have just left flowers here, the petals glistening in a darkness that seems suffused with lonely starlight.' 'Obito has seen much. He has seen armies rise and nations fall, the drum-beat cadence of civilizations booming and bursting like burnt out stars, and he reminds himself that there is no pain. Only the clarity of purpose to light his way.' 3)Rin - "What did you do?" Rin said, They sat on the training bench, Rin holding his hand in her lap and wrapping his wound with white bandages. At the time, Obito was red-faced and embarrassed, but Rin taped the bandages expertly and gave his hand a satisfied squeeze. Some men carried photos and others carried locks of their sweetheart's hair, but Obito was happy enough to have this memento, a reminder that Rin actually cared about him. Dear Obito, That was probably the worst fight I've ever seen, but that's okay :3 You never gave up. That's your best quality. Keep at it and please cheer up :-) - Rin And she signed her name with a heart next to it. At the time, Obito had been torn between feeling mortified and ecstatic, because Rin took the time to write to him but also because she noticed how much he sucked, but he kept the note anyway, conflicting emotions aside.' This broke my heart! I love that letter! The whole bit with him losing the bandage and the scene he imagines where she comforts him - so quiet, still and tender. Also the section where he holds her dead body and then hacks off his hair because he looks so much like Madara. The end with his realisation about her loss so aching it was painful - poor Obito. 4)The Nine Tails - very interesting take on this and gives him a break with Madara. Almost if Madara and the Kyuubi are made for each other in a rage filled rampage kind of way and Obito is more a of tortured, stoic figure. The Kyuubi was not easy to control. Unlike Madara, who broke and rode the Kyuubi at will, Obito only had one eye, and he could barely restrain the beast, who was newly released and thrashing for freedom. The Kyuubi reared and bucked and thrashed against his control, and it took all of Obito's powers to keep the Kyuubi subdued. 4)Itachi - again a few simple lines capture my beloved Uchiha. 'Itachi looked at him with a studied hardness, face bone-white against the dark line of trees.' 5)Pain - A very good exchange showing Nagato's philosophy and his relationship with Obito. '"I apologize," Nagato-as-Pein says, the Tendo Pein's purple eyes sliding up to meet his. "There is much injustice in this world. We only seek to rectify it." "You are floundering," Obito says. "There is no saving the trash that's collected on this world. I seek to end it," Obito says, and he turns, a sharp rebuke: "Get me the bijou, and I swear to you, this will end all war."' One of the things that really gets me about your work (that I am trying to say in a really rambling, roundabout manner) is that you convey very deep emotion, relationships, politics and characterisations in a few, subtle and often very vivid few paragraphs and THAT is would makes your writing an absolute joy to read. The fact that you weave titbits of canon such as Zetsu, Itachi, the Bloody Mist and Konan and Pain makes it even better. Keep it up! |
forgotten-things chapter 1 . 1/1/2013 How do you do it? I read your stories, and every one of them that I've read just shows how good you are at this. You give the characters feeling, you bring out the human in them while maintaining their characters. You are really, really, really good at this, and I'm so glad I found you among the many, many writers on FFN. |
Cavallo Alato chapter 1 . 12/31/2012 As usual, I love your flowing writing style and detail. I really admire how you work in Shinobi world politics, like the bloodline limit genocide. That's really unique, and very connecting - a Naruto world we don't see in the regular series. (that, and including Yagura was great!) I really like the background to all the front history we've seen, something I really love about your work. (also, question: is this slightly AU? Because if I remember correctly /maybe it was a filler, but some of it was in the manga/ but Deidara and Tobi actually went out and caught the Three-Tails in a lake... ?) |
Yuti-Chan chapter 1 . 12/31/2012 Amazing Obito/Rin story :D It was kind of sad, but wonderful, and the stories of the "A Long Way Home" universe give me always so much hope - you know what I mean! Happy New Year :) |
