I just came across this story and read what is here over the course of the day. It is a very interesting psychological thriller in a sense, but so far not a romance. You write very well and the story line is compelling. I am interested in seeing how this turns into a hea.

The other thing I have found interesting is the tenor of and scope of reactions reflected in the reviews. While it isn’t surprising that people will disagree about what Christian has done, I am dumbfounded at the multiple apologists for Christian’s efforts and those who even express or imply annoyance with Ana for her resistance. And why in the world would anyone find the consummation scene “hot.” Maybe they mean “hot” in the way nonconsenual pornography can cause arousal, but it is not “hot” in the sense that anyone could reasonably see it as desireable. Some even see what Christian has done so far as a kind of seduction. This is no seduction, at least not to date.

I understand that there are factors that might arguably partially mitigate Christian’s loathsomeness, but if that consummation scene was less than rape, it wasn’t much less. To those reviewers who disagree, consider this. Yes, people might commonly turn to prostitution because of desperate circumstances, but what I can’t get around is that Christian intentionally and with great malice caused the series of unfortunate events that led to Ana’s desperation for the sole purpose of coercing her to have sex. Mere knowledge of her desperation raises consent issues even if Christian had not been the cause, but the fact that Christian did cause all the unfortunate events that led to Ana’s dubious “agreement” , destroys ANY illusion of consent at all. I may be wrong, but I think the author would not disagree this assessment. This coercion is part of the story, which is being told very well. Look at it this way, if Christian raised a weapon and threatened to put a gun a bullet in Ray’s head unless Ana became Christian’s sex slave, wouldn’t you call it rape, even if she ultimately gave in to save her father? How is what happened here different in any material way? I think Christian raped Ana or engaged in something very close to rape. That Ana does not have all the facts is of no account.

And speaking of the series of unfortunate events that rained down on Ana, how is it that she doesn’t once suspect Christian’s involvement? He expressly threatened to just what he did. The timing, the inexplicable changes in her relationships and how people reacted to her, plus so many other conincidental misfortunes are just such compelling evidence of an intentional evil plot. Interestingly, Ray does know he was framed. He doesn’t just think circumstances made him look guilty. I think Ana should have at least had some suspicion of what was going on, even if she dismissed it. I know that her innocence and naivety is part of the story, but my suggestion is that she should have at least considered the possibility of a malevolent force. Otherwise she comes off as just stupid.

If we are headed for an hea, I hope to see Christian start to show some real concern when Ana is hurt or just plain miserable. So far, he wants and demands an affectation of love and desire from her, yet he is clearly smart enough to know coerced playacted affection has no value. I’d also like him to show some real interest in Ana’s wellbeing and happiness. And maybe even some regret for all he put her through. I’d like to see him somehow get some insight into the suffering he caused.

All in all, this is a very good story and I’m eager to read more.
