I really like where you are going with this. It's my first time ever reading a fanfiction that's based off of Tolkien's work, but I suppose it's only natural that these things start popping up with the movie coming out and all. I like Bilbo's reactions. They seem genuine, but maybe a little over focused. I look forward to the next chapter.

This is brilliant! I was very excited to see a story of this type, and I'm very fond of the direction it's taking. Can't wait for more!

Amazing chapter! I still loved the flashbacks, and they made me feel really... Heartbroken when I read about Thorin :( Hopefully Bilbo will change that! :) good work please update soon

Absolutely wonderful! I've been looking for fics like this for a long time already. I have to admit though, the possibility that the Fellowship would no longer exist later on makes me a little sad. But that aside, would Bilbo really be able to resist the Ring if he comes face to face with it? Haha, I guess I'll just have to wait and see, then!

I read your note, and I say that there are just some things that can't be changed... or that, in trying to change them, he'll find himself dealing with something entirely different. No plan survives contact with reality, as they say, though I think Bilbo is trying his hardest to prove that wrong.

This is great! Please please let them all live! Hm I think one review mentioned the Brandywine reference is a bit suspicious, I suppose it is.. maybe you could have a scene with Gandalf being suspicious and Bilbo playing it off as rivers not being respectable places for any Baggins to mess around in? And it'd show a glimpse of his old fussy self which might actually be a relief to Gandalf, who must be very puzzled at this point lol.

Loved it! Your story holds so much emotion that I cannot help but be moved by it! I love Bilbo's determination and also his internal struggle. You made everything realistic, especially his meeting with Thorin and the discussion with Ori.

Well he's just a man - a hobbit, but you get the idea.
By stopping things from happenning, who knows if the results won't be worse?

Wow...just, wow. I cannot wait for this to really get rolling! Absolutely love the restart idea and cannot wait to see what happens, what's gonna be the same, what'll be different...GAH! Why are there only three chapters!?

But seriously, this really is a fascinating read and I was hanging on every word, so much so that I got a little teary eyed and reread Thorin's entrance several times just so I could really feel what Bilbo was feeling at seeing him again. Thorin was perfectly in character as well, I believe if Bilbo lectured him about manners that his more Kingly side would have to acknowledge such manners...the idea of Bilbo lecturing Thorin being rather funny is just a nice, fringe benefit in that scene. lol.

Also, I love how you went a little more in depth initially with Ori and Dwalin. I am a Thorin fangirl through and through and have been since I read the book years ago, however, I find myself eagerly looking forward to the more in depth characters of the other Dwarves here. You've laid some excellent ground work.

All in all, I eagerly await the next update. Well done, Author!
