Reviews for Paths of Peril
Isabeau of Greenlea chapter 9 . 12/15/2002
Poor Boromir! All those Elven debaucheries! And he's going to be traumatized when he discovers Aragorn's true identity. I loved the part where Haldir informs him he's already married by elven custom-apparently, he too can start a list of Things People Never Told Me! Nice that he longs still for his lady love, and I enjoyed the appreciation for Arwen, and his interplay with her and with Aragorn.
Lady of Legolas chapter 16 . 12/14/2002
Thank you for deciding to continue on with the story.I can't wait to read Book 3.I've been following this story even though I don't review it that going because it's too good to ,Boromir's not going to die is he?
Soledad chapter 16 . 12/14/2002
You describe the pull of the Ring on Boromir frighteningly convincing. Poor Man, if worrying about Eledhwen wasn't bad enough. And he is jealous of Haldir? Man, we are going to face interesting plot twists in Book 3, I'm sure of it.

But you are evil letting us hanging like this. :)
Anne-Marie chapter 16 . 12/14/2002
Oooo, I can't wait for book three. Why didn't Boromir cry? He was very aware of everyone else's pain in the original...mmm...interesting, I really like how you described the lure of the ring for him,and how it communicated through to Aragorn, this is fantastic!
Adara of Middle Earth chapter 16 . 12/14/2002
Author here: If anybody misses the scenes at Balin's tomb and at the bridge with the balrog, I can go back and write them. I felt they had been done beautifully before and couldn't see boring my readers with reruns. Anyway, after the movie, no description of mine could compare. Besides, I am eager to reunite Eledwhen and Boromir. I hope you guys are as eager to read about it. Thanks for reading my work. And MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I didn't expect you to skip the whole fight scene and Gandalf fall, but I guess it's been played out a million times. The whole temptation scene was great! I can't wait til next month when you continue! It's about time! This chapter was great and so was the whole second book. It makes you think a little differently about The Fellowship.

Osheen Nevoy chapter 15 . 12/6/2002
Hey, fabulous! Ah, it is nice to read the work of someone else who noticed that Aragorn and Gandalf treat poor Boromir like dirt during that delightful voyage ... and Tolkien isn't much better! Gods, totally ignoring everything Boromir says, and then totally ignoring his existence for 60 pages or so at a stretch - he would have had time to go off on his own and have adventures enough to fill a whole other book, and then re-join the company, and you have the feeling that neither Tolkien, Aragorn nor Gandalf would notice! Anyway ... after that rant, you can guess which lines in the chapter I liked best! Such as the absolutely priceless "who died and made Aragorn king?", and "since when have I been included in any decisions?" and the bit about "freezing my arse off with beings that talk to walls", and "if the survival of Middle Earth resides in the hands of my companions, all is lost". Awesome! Go Boromir!

I really want to see more. Can I have some more Eowyn, please?
Anne-Marie chapter 15 . 12/3/2002
Hmm...more good story. Very intense, I admire people who can write such deep stories with such tight plot lines. I am very impressed and I really like it. but are you still going to let boromir die? *sniffs* I know he has to...or is supposed to...but so much other stuff is going on...I can't wait for more, this is great! :)

Ha! Go, Gimli! ''Who died and made Aragorn king'', indeed! And Aragorn's dismay learning that Arwen asked Boromir to look out for him... Gods, I love this chapter!

! Don't die!
Osheen Nevoy chapter 14 . 11/26/2002
Hurrah! I am finally caught up! You have impressed the heck out of me again. Very good stuff. I was just blown away by your Rohan chapter. I hadn't had a chance to read it when it was posted as a separate story, but it definitely works wonderfully in the context of this story. It's very, very strong, smooth, logical, and just totally works. I love what you did with all the characters - how Eowyn is strong and forceful and exasperated by the damn fool men, but she's not just some ice queen b****, and how Theodred and Eomer are clueless about Eowyn and what's going on with her, but in other ways are admirable and interesting and intelligent characters, so they're not just stupid men who are there as foils for Eowyn's intelligence. Whew, that sentence was too long, there. The suspense in that chapter is excellent, as well. Very creepy; makes you just want to jump into the story and kill Grima, to save Eowyn & company from having to deal with him! Chapter 14, too, is excellent - you've got suspense with the question of Boromir & Eledwhen's child, very cool and interesting (and realistic) dynamics in the tension between Boromir & Aragorn, and a really interesting treatment of Arwen's character - manipulative and yet sympathetic. And I loved seeing dear Boromir be so chivalric towards her! (Sigh ... Boromir ... what a guy!) Anyway, I hope your writing is going smoothly for you, and that you update (very) soon!

Snort. So, Aragorn's annoyingly patronizing manner makes him a good candidate for become King, hm? I guess you are right. I like your Arwen, she has a lot of character, though what she was asking from Boromir might have been a little selfish. Still, these small flaws are what truly make a character interesting. Who'd care for a perfect person? And at least Arwen has ten times more understanding for Boromir than Aragorn has.
