Reviews for Shadow Government
Guest chapter 24 . 11/8/2013
Eek. This sort of reminds me of every horror movie ever where people think it's a good idea to split up for some reason. Poor Raoul and Phillip and... well... everyone. Should've stayed together. Sure... Erik would have gotten Christine back anyway... but THEY don't know that. Silly kids.

"All will go as arranged" would never be a good response from ANY Erik. Can you get any more maliciously vague than that? I mean... maybe if he grew a Snidely Whiplash mustache and rubbed his hands together all villainous-like. Or maybe finished it off with a cackle. Still... never trust that sentence.
gravity01 chapter 23 . 11/7/2013
Oh SNAP! I know what Cameron's got planned. It's like in book when it mentions how the shah wanted to put out Erik's eyes and... basically neutralize a threat. Is that what Cameron has planned? To cripple Christine so that she can't escape or fight back in any way. Only... he couldn't harm JUST Christine, since Erik would not be happy about it (if he'd wanted such an awful thing done, he'd have done it himself without anyone's permission!)... but if he instituted a POLICY. He wouldn't have to kill dissenters if he just disabled them.

It's actually a good idea, if you're a sociopath. Erik seems to be the more mentally stable one of the two, though... ironically. So I doubt this will go down well with him.

Although, where while Erik's 'weak spot' is Christine, it seems like Cameron's is his granddaughter. I can't really see this Erik harming a little girl, but I guess Cameron doesn't know that. And... while Erik would go to the ends of the earth and back for Christine, I think Cameron's loyalty is probably split between Abby and his Community. I feel bad for that kid. Things aren't going to go well for her, no matter what happens.

Nice background on how the Community was funded. I was really wondering about that. He probably just absorbed the members' resources when they joined, too, right? But he'd need start up funds. And I wonder how many of those deaths have something to do with him, too. He seems to battle with "keeping his hands clean" and "needs must" mentalities. Interesting he still has a living sister. I wonder why she wasn't taken out, too. Maybe because the will fell in Cameron's favor...
gravity01 chapter 22 . 11/7/2013
Yeah, taking over the northwest WOULD be difficult. I think the folks up there are eagerly awaiting for the government to collapse. It'd would be hard to convince them to willingly submit under an even stronger influence.

Anyway, Raoul is definitely in trouble if he can't access his brother. All that static can't be a fluke... especially since I'm sure he would have heard talk if it was happening to anybody but him. But... on the other hand... it's too bad there's not really a better way.

It's such a tough predicament to be in - trying to make things better and not quite knowing when it's time to just cut your losses and leave a sinking ship. Most of us have been there at one point or another... a job or relationship or project... but not on the scale of an entire COUNTRY. And especially for Raoul and his family, who seem to have a "never give up" mentality. It can't be an easy choice to make. If he doesn't go back he'll feel guilty forever for abandoning his family and duty... but if he DOES go back and something happens to Christine, I'm sure he'll never forgive himself.

I guess it really is better for them to stay put. Then again... it doesn't really matter much, does it? Not with a guy like Erik on their tails.

Llandaf chapter 40 . 11/4/2013
I really enjoyed this story. It was dark, but the Erik and Christine I like to see came through in the end.
Now on to those sexy vigenettes. How do I ge may eyes on them?
I'll keep looking for your stories. Right now I'm reading Martyr
Keep the good work coming.

Erik'sTrueAngel chapter 40 . 11/4/2013
Aww! I am sad to see there will be no more vignettes but this ending wrapped everything up so nicely and with such a happy ending that I want to hug this chapter. It was absolutely perfect and with the bullying parallel to it... loved how Erik came to the rescue during dinner. That father was a bastard and at least they stopped picking on Ben. Fantastic end like always and hopefully... maybe one day you will revisit this and add more adventures for Erik and Christine.
Kelly Melly chapter 40 . 11/4/2013

Lol :) thanks for the escapes from life...
Wood Dragon chapter 40 . 11/4/2013
Read the story in 2 sittings...that's how much I loved it! Loved the vignettes too, they rounded out the story nicely, and it is always good to see how Christine and Erik, and yes even Raoul too, fared after all the excitement had died down. Sad to see the story end, and as always I find your stories well-written and well-paced, and the characters interesting and well thought out. (Wish I could write like that !) Bravo, and l look forward to your next project !

KittyPimms chapter 40 . 11/3/2013
Love, love, love! You ended it perfectly and while I am sad that it's over (always, when it's a story you like so much!) you have tied everything up wonderfully and true to who they are. Brava!
jtbwriter chapter 40 . 11/3/2013

AlmostExistentExistentialist chapter 40 . 11/3/2013
I literally had a noooooooooooooo moment when I realized there weren't going to be three more vignettes. But you ended it so beautifully and wonderfully that I can't possibly be irate with you. This story was absolutely wonderful, and I'm so happy to be in the phantom fandom. This was the first phic that I've ever read while it has been in the process of being updated. I just want to thank you for writing this, and it is one of those fics that you never really forget. Your characters, plots, and eloquence are superlative to so many published authors. Thanks/you are the best. Please keep writing. I'll keep stalking your profile for more stories
