Ah, that reminds me—Rin knows Naruto's parents. She's realized he's their child. She knows that Naruto doesn't know. So, why hasn't she told him?

There has been plenty of time for her to do so in private. It makes no sense for that to even still be an issue right now. These characters are supposed to be intelligent, but you have them acting according to plot convenience, which lowers the quality of the story as a whole.

Other than that, I liked this chapter. The ending was pretty adorable too.

What an oddity. The way that Sarutobi—and Konoha by extension—are going about this, will only worsen the alienation that Naruto feels. I sort of see what you're trying to go for, but it doesn't make sense from a logical perspective; these characters are supposed to be intelligent and level-headed. They should already know that this isn't the way to go about tying Naruto down to the village.

Kakashi is a bit of a different case, since I'm assuming he's acting the way he is due to personal reasons. And yes, while Sarutobi, for example, may also have personal reasons, they haven't been shown and he should be able to put them aside regardless due to his position as the village dictator.

Anyway, there's a bit of emotional whiplash here around the torture scene. It's too fast with not enough build up in my opinion, and the mood swings all over the place for a bit.

The ending bit was good. Shows another side of Naruto and leads to character growth.

I loved the bits with Naruto and Rin. Their interactions and overall characterization were a joy to read, very well done.

On another note, I can't say I'm a fan of the cliche were Naruto is passed around from team to team. And if building relationships is the goal, passing him around so often is going to have the opposite effect; people often don't put down roots if they know they're merely going to leave shortly.

Huh, I feel like I've read this before years ago. The plot seems vaguely familiar. Anyway, why was Rin on the rooftop with Naruto? There's no explanation for that beyond simple convenience. Similarly for Naruto chasing after Mizuki—there's no solid reasoning for it.

Everything was otherwise well written. Although, I do hope you actually make narrative changes and don't stick to the canon plot. There'd be no point in making all these changes just to go down the same path with (maybe) slightly different reactions. The five man team seems a but odd too. I don't think you needed to shoe-horn Sakura into it.

So, I'm going to assume that Rin just appeared. I have quite a few questions on why she was sealed into a portrait, but I suppose you'll answer that eventually. I just hope the explanation is satisfactory.

It seems interesting enough. You've definitely hooked me in on the little mystery with Naruto managing to repel the rain and stick the kid to the ground.

I'm really impressed with this story, with Naruto thinking so realistically. Why do you care about others if the people you want to care about are indifferent to you.

After the suna invasion arc you can get naruto out of the village, for rin's proof to naruto that not all people are cruel. the point is not to generalize unilaterally.

Sarutobi here is also stupid if he believes that naruto does not suffer from mental damage and his perspective is different.

And finally you should continue this story even though your last uodate was 1 year ago.

Throwing Rin in to the situation was certainly an interesting change. It's exciting to see the differences.
