Reviews for A Matter of Life and Death |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not that familiar with MI5/Spooks, but this was amazingly well-done. You really understand the characters well, and it's a fast and entertaining read. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent! I was sort of hoping for something like this and here it is. This story is wonderfully conceived and executed and an absolute joy to read so if you ever have any more plot bunnies like this one wanting to be released please go right ahead! |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was staggeringly beautiful and so very appropriate, no matter how sad. Brilliantly done. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow, powerful stuff. And getting so tense I can hardly breathe! |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was amazing! Love the ties that are developing between this soul's past and future lives, fascinating stuff. And now onwards to see where it all ends. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Love all the little details in this, from the foreboding atmosphere within the castle to the incarnations feeling each others' pain and then the delightful imagery of Marian treating all these tough men like so many misbehaving children. Excellent work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ah yes, thought it might be something like that. Lovely instalment and I hope he achieves his exculpation in both incarnations. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Yikes! Now we're going to get really interesting. Love the atmospheric writing style - it makes the reader feel as though they're there - and the plotting is lovely. |
![]() ![]() ![]() And now the tension really starts to build up! This idea is getting more and more interesting with each chapter and I am really intrigued as to whether you're going to leave Lucas in Sherwood Forest or return him to the present. Or even to somewhere else entirely - there are many options with this set-up so I look forward to seeing where it all ends up. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Yay Lucas! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry for being so late with my review. Firstly, thanks for giving us both endings. It was really interesting to see both. And I loved them both. The alternative ending was clever and gave us the happy ending that we inevitably want. Nice bit of Ruth/Lucas interaction too. But for what it's worth, I think you were right to go with your original ending. Sad as it was, for me personally it made the most sense. xxx |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aww, good for Lucas, and for Marian and Robin. I laughed out loud at Ruth's reaction to the Sheriff and Guy, that was brilliant. XD Also, I love the 'tapestries' image, and the implication that Lucas' actions had some impact on the future. All in all, an amazing story, will favourite. :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Glad you decided to write and post this chapter. It definitely brings everything full circle and ties all loose ends. I particularly enjoyed Lucas' exchange with Ruth and her delightful blushing when thinking of Guy. lol I hope this won't be your last Lucas or Guy fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not going to lie, I liked this ending a lot better and I am so glad you posted it. He went there, fixed things, and then came back. And Ruth knows, of course she knows. Sometimes I do wonder whether that woman is just omniscient or something very close to it. I really like her a lot in your stories. All in all this ending put a huge smile on my face and I am very, very grateful that you wrote it. In its own way it even makes sense. Thank you so very much for writing this masterpiece. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, I did enjoy the story and quite a lot at that, but the ending took me completely by surprise. I think I had been hoping for a glorious happy ending indeed, but eventually your ending made sense, even if I still am a bit shocked. And in a way Robin and Marian got their happy ending because of what Lucas did. And he did indeed redeem himself. So that makes up for it all. A little. No, seriously, it was amazingly done and I loved this story from start to finish. Thank you so very, very much for writing this and here's me hoping that this isn't the last Spooks fic you'll ever write. |
