Reviews for Pygmalion, or My Fair Trainer |

pillowdrabbler chapter 5 . 1/13/2012 Be still, my convulsive cheeks. My god, the hilarity you've managed to rock my whole system with! I hope the world has yet to see the last of this masterpiece-in-the-making. Putting into mind how you labeled the thing eldershippy and the as yet tempestuous and severe relationship between Bostonian Ketchum and British Oak, the fic definitely still has a lot of ground to cover. Hope you get back to it sometime. Or have the years past put too much weight on your back and maturity in your being? This was heartbreakingly marvelous. We appreciators can always opt to append unfinished stories with whatever we knead in our heads, but reading the actual author's words and relishing in the lyrical goodness of each paragraph are just downright incomparable. Eight years since you've touched this. Nearly thirty hundred days, yet here I am still hoping the continuation will make that leap from ideas to language. All the best. |
noneyobusiness chapter 1 . 3/17/2010 Omg, I love My Fair Lady. By the way...is Professor Oak British? Anyway, great story. Please don't have it end like the play! have it end like the movie: "I washed my face and hands before i come, i did." "Eliza?" One of the greatest romantic stories on this planet. It's a shame I'm one of the few children today who will watch through and through. i love rex harrison in it... Anyway. i'm getting carried away. Bye...:) |
A Parliament of Owls chapter 4 . 3/16/2007 This is classic-an amazingly well-written story! I hope you finish this. |
3656754278737 chapter 5 . 11/3/2002 *is sobbing with laughter* This chapter is absolutely perfect. The whole fic is filled with classic lines...this is a brilliant crossover. *cheers for more* |
Llyxius chapter 5 . 10/30/2002 Oh. My. Gosh. Why didn't I get an update on this? I have you on alert, I swear I do! And it's still activated... *puzzled* Oh well. THANKS, Spook, for telling me that this is here! Back to the review...oh wait, I never started it! But I found a line I like. "...Start over. And for God's sake stop dotting your is with those insipid hearts." Ha ha, girl thing! And: ""Write to President Wallingford of the Orange League. Tell him that if he wants a suitable person to replace the Orange League Master, he can do no better than Mr. Drake Ketchum. A common man, but undoubtedly one of the most original and extraordinary trainers in the whole of Kanto!" I remember that part! But I love Drake and Professor Oak in those roles! I swear, Latonya, these was the greatest crossover idea! ..."'He's choking!' Spencer cried, while the Professor turned a marvelous shade of blue." LOL Uh, did I just mention that I adore these characters in these roles? 'Cause I do. i. Great chapter, Latonya-sama! Btw, I have to email you and ask you something sometime. But ta-ta for now! _~ |
Kell Shock chapter 5 . 10/29/2002 Beautiful, just beautiful! A nice parody of Pygmalion! Good Story! Keep going! |
Spruceton Spook chapter 5 . 10/28/2002 You know, I read this and got ready to write you a totally lengthy and hyper review and whatnot, but realized I seriously could not formulate the words to tell you how much I loved this. So I went back and read it again! LOL Seriously, I really did! And I came back and tried to write a review AGAIN, but like before, I sat here thinking, "How can I possibly find the words to tell her how much I really, really, really LOVE this!" ~_ Latonya, I'm reviewing now-well, duh, that was pointless to say... Heeheehee! And still, I don't know how to tell you how much I love this. Am I repeating myself? Eeeeeeee! _ Well, I need to, I need to! I need to let you know how great this is, and I'm so bad at writing reviews, so the only thing I can say is, I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I adore the characters, I adore the situations, I adore Delia's little fantasies about Sam dying! ROTFL! It's GREAT, it's all fabulous and amazing and awesome and deserving of countless WHOAH-OHs! In fact-that does it, I'm printing it out. LOL And I'll fall into depression until you get the next chapter out! *_* You wanna know something? I have a temperature right now...I'm getting so sick and feel blaaah...and you got me jumping off the walls. _ Haha! Thanks Latonya, you're the BEST! Till next time-which I hope is shortly! WHOAH-OH! |
ee970 chapter 5 . 10/28/2002 Oh wow, Latonya, you've outdone yourself. Drake is a hoot and a half, Delia is sweet and sensible and spunky and other good s-words, and Sam is such an evil crotchety old bastard that he rocks the house down. That bit in scene 3 about the windmill and the angels and whatnot was classic. I'm sorry for sleeping on this story for so long... I love it! :) |
Blackjack Gabbiani chapter 5 . 10/28/2002 BWAHAHAHA! BWAHAHAHA! That was great! (Although I *still* don't know why you have Drake, who's probably all of 25, as her father) Delia's little dream sequence was perfect! |
Blackjack Gabbiani chapter 4 . 10/8/2002 BWAHAHAHA! This is priceless! But...er...if Gio is Freddy...or is Spencer playing Freddy? Must watch movie again...For some reason I picture Luwana as Mrs. Pierce...can Jiddy be the prince? I'd just love to see him as royalty...*g* Besides, I don't think he'd even have any lines, just stand there, waltz with some people, and look pretty...*VERY pretty...eheheheh...* |
cultnirvana chapter 2 . 9/19/2002 Latonya, this is hilarious! It reminds me so much of my four years of English Literature (ah, 15 books and more than 60 poems! luckily the poems were mostly Shakespeare and Keats). It sounds just like something Austen or Wharton would write. You have written it perfectly, and your inspirations are clear. You've intergreted the Pokemon characters and it's over all story brilliantly into this piece of 19th century (I think. I've never read Shaw, but the whole atmosphere of it reminds me of 'The Age of Innocence') fiction. Well, gotta go an read the next two chapters, and I'll review them as soon as possible. Luv ya loads, Karen. |
3656754278737 chapter 4 . 9/12/2002 I love Spencer Hale in this. *grins* This chapter was inspired, too. *wants more* |
3656754278737 chapter 3 . 9/12/2002 Ack! I've been so lazy about reviewing lately! But, oh, well, I'm reviewing now. It's too late for me to think of anything intelligent to say, so I'll just say I liked the chapter. Especially the bit with the Lickitung. |
Spruceton Spook chapter 4 . 9/4/2002 What the-! NO! *Tries to pull little scroll-box thingy down more than it can go* OMG, I'll make it go down! There has to be more here, there has to be! *Realizes it's not possible and begins whining* Ah, Latonya, perfect timing! I was all down because school started again (well, not down, just frustrated); what a great thing to come home to! LOL, this was the best chapter yet! I love the way Sam talks to Delia-you'll never hear that in the show, which makes it beyond awesome! _ And you've currently made me obsessed with the word guttersnipe. LOL Actually, the word used to make me laugh back in philosophy class (don't ask how it originated there ;), but I'm telling ya, I love it a lot more than I did in the class. Heehee! Dude, I am SO getting excited to see how these lessons are gonna go! It's making me all jumpy, yay! What a great feeling-nothing like a magnificently funny story to get me going. Thankies for making me smile wider than usual! Oh, and I put this on my favorites. _ Just so you're not totally convinced yet how much I ADORE this fic. _ Byes for now, and thanks for your cute, entertaining reviews! _ |
Llyxius chapter 4 . 9/4/2002 The wisest writer? Allow me to flame myself, Latonya-sama. *snorts* But about the chapter-rhubarb jam? Good job on the eccentricities... O.o LOL Oo, I like these lines! I'm going to quote them even though I know it's been far too long since seeing the movie or read the play to know which ones were one's were Shaw's and which one's are yours. "Despite his firm belief in the sanctity of engagement..." It's cute! _ I should probably review the story instead of quote lines, but... "What do you think, Spencer? Shall we ask the baggage to sit down, or shall we toss her out the window?" LOL And Godiva chocolates...way to add the detail... *drools* The professor's speech of plans! LOL I can use that to finally segue into something resembling a normal review. Gosh, I love Delia and Sam's characterizations. You probably had to adapt bits and pieces from Rex and Audrey and Henry and Eliza's characters and still make Sam and Del recognizable as themselves. And I, for one, think it worked! I particularly love Delia's characterization-but that could have to do with many little personal biases in favor of her( once again the Godiva chocolate. LOL) Though I keep wishing for Ash and thinking _duh_, she still a trainer herself! Anyway, thanks, Latonya-sama, both for the story and for the email! I'll write back soon, and sorry for the wait in reviewing. I work too much... _; Hugs! |
