Your explanation of the jewel makes little sense when compared to the characters' actions. It sounds like it creates two bodies with one mind. In that case, Ranma would not be arguing with himself.

This is an interesting story but the exact nature of the connection between Ranma and Ranko is still not clear. Ranko behaves sometimes like a girl and sometimes like Ranma in a female body. Why does Tatewaki Kuno know Nodoka Saotome? I don't think he knew her in the manga.

The best explanation that I can think of for the independence that the two sides area displaying from each other could be compared to something like the shadow clone from Naruto. Only difference here would have to be that they would have to have specific times in which they sync up besides maintaining a weak connection considering the male half didn't respond in any way of his female side seeing a girl naked even from the memory. Having them sync up like while asleep to maintain a close link between the two.

I must say that unless you have something planned then you did goof up a bit for the female side's reactions. Two main reasons for his female side reacting to him seeing her naked would be something acquired from the pool. Either some basic female reflexes and thought patterns (even hormones) or the spirit of the pool. If you were to add the spirit aspect then this could add an interesting aspect of a form of reincarnation where the spirit's memories start emergine.

With all that said I prefer the idea of either side of Ranma being just that and not an extra spirit. I like the idea of the male/female sides being closely linked and you could explore that even further.

In the end, I really do like your work so far and no matter what I hope that you continue updating.

So... the only thing that really bothers me about this fic is how you oscillate between making the "twins" being actual twins and them being two bodies being operated by his one consciousness. It makes no sense for Ranko to attack Ranma if they're the same person, or for her to be legitimately insulted when Ranma insults her.

Oh, poor Ranko is pretty confused. But, at least the shopping trip introduced her to some clothes (mostly slacks) that fit better.

Hmm, this is a very promising twist on canon. I like it so far.

Just one thing: You've categorized it as "romance" but haven't revealed the pairing. What is it, or is it a surprise? I'm guessing it's Ranma x Akane (particularily after that flattering opening description of Akane), but I can't be sure at this point. Whatever you do, make sure it's not a Ranma x Ranko pairing, as that would just be sick.

Is this going to be a Ranma/Nabiki story or a Ranma/Akane story ?
