Reviews for Against All Odds |

![]() ![]() ![]() Finally getting around to reading this - and I admit, part of it was me not wanting it to be over. This has been such an intense and phenomenal journey and I've truly enjoyed every minute of it. I can't believe it's over now, and I definitely plan to go back to the beginning and read through it again now that it's complete. So thank you, for writing this, for sharing it with us, and for all the thought and effort that clearly went into the creation of this story. It will forever rank very high on my favorites list. ![]() ![]() I am really into this! Only at ch. 4 but really good. Just an FYI: Timmins is 500km from the USA border so not close at all...anyway, no biggie, I'm just from northern Ontario so I found it funny :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() The best stories leave you wanting more and this is no exception. You have commandeered all my discretionary time the past few days and hours and hours that I should have been sleeping, but I could not put this down. This felt like it unfded effortlessly towards a resolution with consistent themes throughout. and that takes serious talent. Thank you so much for all the time and emotional energy you invested in this. I feel like I should say so much more, but even then it would never be enough. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Gah. Castle bleeding of insecurity, needing assurances before he gives himself completely to her again, and that hug in the midst of everything, it's all just so . . . maybe there just aren't words. This chapter, this whole story speaks do well to the fact that they are partners and best friends and that's the foundation that makes the romance so epic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very powerful. Castle finally breaking and Kate comforting him was just so very powerful. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, such sweetness! |
![]() ![]() ![]() "Let it go, Beckett. If that bath helped you hang on one more day, made a single minute of it more bearable, then it was worth it." Oh could he be any more lovely? The sound of keys must have felt like redemption, that what (in her mind) she had put him through hadn't silenced the part of him that she had first fallen in love with. Also, just one completely peripheral comment - Thank you so much for the reference to the A&E version of P&P. Good to know you have discerning taste! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very insightful. Makes sense that Tyson being human enough to die makes Kare feel guilty and inadequate. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, the utter panic, poor Kate! I can't blame her for expecting Tyson to be lurking around the corner. |
![]() ![]() Love it 3 |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh there's so many tenuous moments, all of which are so realistic for these characters. I can totally see Beckett racing down the road as if chased and Castle wanting so badly to know what happened to her and what he should do at every turn. I love how aware they are of each other. This story could not have been easy to tackle but you've written it beautifully. |
![]() ![]() ![]() "The issue with sex, Kate Beckett decides as she sits on a plane to Toronto the next morning, is that it's addictive. Sex with Richard Castle - even more so." I just love that line - and the whole scene playing out with all the sexual tension on the plane and in the airport. That the playfulness and chemistry is back so fully is a great indicator that they're whole again. I have waited to write a last review of this story because I just couldn't bring myself to admit that it is all over. THANK YOU for writing it. It is a beautiful story, and I have loved every single chapter. And even though there's a part of me that wants to see more, I really appreciate how it has been so wholly focused on their coming back together, and the other featured characters are those who play a significant role in making that happen. There's something about not knowing for sure if she goes back to work at the Precinct, how many kids they have (if any), where they end up living that allows this story to live on indefinitely. Maybe someone (not me, since I am no creative writer) will feel compelled to fanfic AAO - but I'm totally content with where this has ended. And again, thanks for writing it. It definitely helped me (and apparently many others) get through the long hiatus. I wish I could mark it as a "favorite favorite!" |
![]() ![]() Best. Castle. Story. EVER. |
![]() ![]() ![]() That Tyson really is diabolical. I loved this chapter for Kate's strength - she's not imploding but she's regrouping and coming out better from each incident that could trigger her to run. And that ILY? Gah! |
![]() ![]() so so so so wonderful! please please write a follow-up, continuation, epilogue to the epilogue (and not just a MA one shot, although those are appreciated too ;) |
