I just reread this story and I think I loved it even more this time around. I loved the smarter and darker direction you take most of the characters-including Harry! Poor Hermione, having to see her own methods turned against her by such a (seemingly) stereotypical Gryffindor haha. Wonder if this will drive her another step down her path to becoming a Dark Lady...
While I do hope you decide to return to this story one day, it is one of my favorites in the fandom as is. Thanks for writing it!

just finished probably my fifth reread of this story. still stands out as one of the best I've read I really do adore it. I hope wherever our author is has been good to them. I'm sure I'll reread this again.

I think the author made a mistake in this chapter. George initially admonishes Fred for using prop comedy but then he is the one who uses it and is tackled by Fred?

I can't tell if Malfoy is stupidly lucky or uncharacteristically wily in leaving the diary for Hermione to take.

Adding such nuance to Lockhart also feels pretty strange, considering he is such a simple character in canon. I guess you have to warp his character a bit since you're portraying Hermione as competent and her canon crush on him wouldn't make sense if he was as how he was in canon.
