| Marcus S. Lazarus chapter 34 . 2/9
Interesting bit of work, I’ll give you that.
Doing a crossover story for four purely crime-based dramas is always tricky in my experience- dealing with crossovers between a crime series and, for example, ‘Doctor Who’ or ‘Supernatural’, you have the ‘advantage’ that the other side will definitely be needed as the case will involve something the original detectives have no experience in- but you neatly deal with that issue by creating a case that would automatically attract the attention of the three original investigators and force them all to collaborate to find an answer.
I wasn’t entirely sure about the addition of NCIS: LA to the cast at first (Mainly because I knew the other three shows but haven’t seen that one, but also because I worried you were giving the case too many metaphorical cooks), but the case was interesting from the beginning, as you brought each investigator in under plausible circumstances while also giving them some fascinating issues to confront, ranging from Tony’s complex feelings for Ziva to Kate’s anxiety about the latest twist in her relationship with Castle and Jane and Maura’s new confrontation of their own issues in their relationship.
The investigation progressed in an equally effective manner as it started, each detective having some contribution to make to the overall case even before we learned the scale of the threat they were dealing with- even if I’m still a bit uncertain about how Frost caught on to what was happening beyond being in the right place at the right time- and the personal problems faced by Castle, Beckett, Jane and Maura are also well-introduced; the grant was a slightly surprising addition to the situation, but the reason Maura applied for it originally and didn’t bring it up earlier made sense, as did Kate’s concerns about her own secret.
The revelation about what they’re up against is also effective, creating an intriguing example of a case that would demand the attention of multiple small groups from various agencies without requiring the large-scale cooperation/usurpation that we’ve seen when the ‘Castle’ team in particular have had to work with other agencies on particularly big cases- the plan is a threat, but the people responsible for it are significantly less dangerous than those they’ve dealt with previously- even if their disintegrating personal dynamics make it a greater problem before the unique catalyst of their enemies’ final attack.
All in all, you could have been a bit clearer on how Frost ended up involved here beyond a chance glance of someone who might have had legitimate business, but I generally can’t fault the final conclusion, each team given a reason to think about where they’re going with their lives and a reason to change what they were planning on doing after meeting so many like-minded individuals (Plus, at least you made Jane and Maura feel natural and in-canon; so many stories rely on the idea that they were already aware of being that way inclined, but you have them admit their feelings while not entirely sure how to define what they are to each other).
Any chance of a ‘One Year Later’ shot looking at the investigators coming back together to toast their victory?

Great Caskett chapter! I could definitely see them be unsure about whether they could raise a baby together in pre-S6 even though the idiots love each other lol
I'm sad that the fic ended. It was such a nice crossover! But a nice place to end. Thank you for all these chapters! And thank you for the feels :)

I ship them all and will continue to do so because of writers like you who make their relationships come alive! Awesome story! Thanks for sharing!

Aww, Tiva! You're making me so happy and so sad at the same time. Because I know it'll never happen in canon :(

Awwwww, such a cute chapter! You're very good at making me feel the fluff!

Nice chapter! It pains my heart that from these 4 ships, only Castle and Beckett are together in canon, Ziva and Kensi are miles away from Tony and Deeks, and Rizzoli and Isles don't even know if they have anything at all.

Castle should go follow the NCIS team for a month or two, like a summer program. Gibbs would be so glad (not).

Caskett and Rizzles are reunited! And that line from DiNozzo was epic! I can just imagine the scene.

Is there going to be more Tiva?

Different women, different opinions and thoughts about having a family and kids.
I also liked that Gates mentioned to Kate to bring back Castle alive :D

Ziva and Kate comparing tragedies makes me feel bad about them... At least Kate has someone who's there for her.
