I have always loved this story of yours, but every time I read this, I find myself annoyed by a small time inconsistencie in this chapter. As you are planning to edit anyway, I thought I'd mention this now.

In this chapter (27), Zia and little Tom have moved into their new house.
They sleep one night, and in the morning Zia leaves to buy groceries.
On her walk there Tom senior rides up behind her on a horse, where he stops an acts kindly twards with her.

The issue is in this sentence (He looked down at the woman who had appeared at his house years ago...). This sentence makes no sense, by your own time-line she only met him three days before? Also, if the time-line is correct, his change in behavior has happened way to fast to be believable.

My eyes went so wide when I saw this had an update. Thank you for not giving up on it! I’d always loved this story
