Awe! Odin! DX You suck, Odin! Can't he be a nice, supportive father for once? Didn't he see how badly Loki wanted to impress him? Didn't he see the disapointment? Didn't he care?
The answer, maybe. And if he did, he probably didn't care all that much. Sad fact of life.

Exactly how I imagined Loki's relationship with Odin to be. Great fic and I LOVED Loki's little bit about Thor
| Guest chapter 1 . 6/18/2013
A very telling story...
A great defense of Loki and his goodness, and who is the one much more responsible than him for all else...
Pure genius and a masterpiece indeed!
| Guest chapter 1 . 6/18/2013
This is one of the most impressive stories I have read!
It is So True, So Sad, So Deep in its simplicity... Poor Loki!
(Thanos/Chitauri torture possibility put aside) I think that there are very few words/arguments in defense of Loki not being the one truly responsible for his (re)actions in the movies that could compare in strength, intensity or impact to your work here!
And to how telling it is for seeing the bigger picture in order to determine who is the one responsible for Loki's sad fate...!
The bigger picture that includes key-facts such as Odin (and others) throwing away and smashing/stomping/dismissing/refusing or being too blind to acknowledge/mocking and reprimanding Loki(for daring be good/different/better/peaceful)&the good and potential for even more good in Loki* - just as Odin threw away (not with his own physical hand yet it was him who did it, NOT Loki, he who made Loki do it, choose to do it, see it as the right thing despite it being so wrong, despite him inner natural feelings and convictions, despite it paining Loki, and yes, pushing him into a shape that isn't his own...**)/dismissed as needless and worthless his daisy, his goodness, his essence, his honest desire to do good and do well... And - as if that ghastly deed was not enough - pushing/teaching Loki instead into that unnatural to him and his inner world and desires "form", pushing/teaching him to value destruction, skills in violence and war over all those wonderful things I just mentioned and which Loki honestly loves and strives for with all his heart... *** Teaching him how it is through these skills in violence that love, recognition and worth is achieved, and not through those pure things he strived for, childishly, honestly and purely, in his creative soul... I suppose it will do good to many if this story became a must-read for Loki-haters and Odin-supporters... And, had he been more real, to Thor and to his lack of understanding/wrong understanding of Loki&what has embittered him and pushed him, manipulating his love and innocence, on the wrong path and being destructive as much for him (if not more), as for those others who have suffered consequences of it, and making him a victim, too - the first and greatest one, in a way, and the suffering and pain of which one no one (again) wants to hear/open their eyes and see/acknowledge...
Thank you for sharing!
(*for it was too much for them to recognize as they themselves did not have it, and refusing to even thing it might be something better than what they have... I suppose that is the one of the saddest ironies of the movie "Thor" - Thor learned from Jane what Loki was trying to teach him with word or/and actions (for so long) and was "universally/Asgarly acknowledged" as good, and Loki, who has his whole life been belittled (by that same Asgard/Odin-who-shaped-the-old/wrong-Thor) and mocked for the same good qualities and for, actually, being better was pushed to do something like Thor-who-father-loves and being labeled a mad villain beyond redemption... (it was too much for Thor and others to recognize this "better" partly out of arrogance, partly because it was so different from what they deluded themselves to be right and honorable)
** tragic... the start of the torture/wilting/throwing away to be stomped on/killing-on-the-inside of Loki... it was like "no one will love you and respect you if you do this pathetic good/peaceful/sweet things, so if you want love then stop it... otherwise you will be less than us"... good and bad labeled the opposite way, so that to make a naturally seeing/feeling person shut his eyes (as for them not seeing is how one must be and not believing the one who sees more than them), and believe the lies of all the blind people around him, convicted their wrong is right on their delusion...
(***It was so sad in the movies to see how his better self tries almost desperately "to have a hand" in his misguided actions, even if all has been so messed up and wronged inside him - and NOT by him...)

So simple & so sad poor Loki
| DC-JellyBean's chapter 1 . 6/17/2013
I cried. Loki was so excited and Odin crushed that. I hate how Loki just let the daisy fall. I love your Loki stories! :)
| Siibi chapter 1 . 6/17/2013
Damn it Odin, I wish Loki turned you into a sack of sh*t. Oh wait, you already are one!
Congrats on delivering another amazing Loki fic, can't wait to read the sequel to UTS. :)
| KJ4aNightmare chapter 1 . 6/17/2013
Awww...no! BAD father - no father's day gift do you deserve! (Trying to be nice here...)
SInce Odin doesn't give a sh*t about Loki's accomplishments, perhaps the younger prince needs to wait until he can transmutate people and turn his father into a daisy. Maybe then he might get noticed by that "nonseeing" father of his.
Your writing is so beautifully emotional and brought me to tears on this short. (don't know if that's a word but you get the idea)

Ouch. Poor Loki. And I can't believe I just said that.
