The way you word this story makes the world sound like shit. And I'm not saying your grammar or the story is shit, what I'm saying is that the apocalyptic hellscape that would be America is painted extremely vividly, carnage and all. In other words, you described an (un)dead America perfectly. Many stories I've read have nothing on this work of art.

It took Man's best friend 6 years to surpass this in both word and chapter count, yet this was written in roughly a year. And if you came back to man's best friend after massive waits, if you were burned out on this, six years would be enough for most authors to get past the burnout, and a year of our own pandemic would probably be bursting at the seams with inspiration for creating zombie apocalpse media. I've been waiting for this since the last update and have a few fumes worth of hope for an update.

And I'm still picturing a conversation Liz would probably have to have with actual members of USAMRIID if they get to the stronghold, regarding wether or not the infected could ever have a hope for re-integrating into society after a cure has been fielded. (If they don't realize by that point that she's just another one of them; but shes got guns and is on their side in defending humans (one in particular))
