Well I think you did a good job. There is after all werry little interaction between Alanna and her father to go on so we can assume that with her temper she actually is scared of him, on the other hand she wouldn't have al that much to go on when it comes to beeing a parent so that looking at how her friend's children behave could be her primary source of information. So it is rather likely.

I believe children in noble families were supposed to use honorifics when speaking with their parents, so no Mother or Father (and no Dad or Mom either), but Lady ... or Sir!
