| ScapeGirl chapter 4 . 4/5/2003
Excellent story, I liked it very, very much. :) One thing I would say though is that Blayne contradicts herself a bit in the end...she says she hates the word good-bye, yet says adieu to Phileas. Adieu is the actual finalized good-bye in French when you don't expect to see anyone again. Au revoir is more of a 'until we meet again.' Sorry for pickiness :) This has sent me off to read more of your SAJV fics now. :)

Right you are, Sally... I suppose that's one of the dangers of writing a period piece :) I was trying so hard not to make the dialog archiac that I allowed a few modern phrases to slip through. Thanks for pointing it out; I shall be doubly on my guard against that in future SAJV fics

A fascinating story, with an intriguing idea on how Phil and Jules could have originally met (even more intriguing is the way Phil is presented 10 years younger), but I found the modern language-Phileas using "okay" and calling his younger brother a "great kid" for example-a bit distracting.
