I love that chapter. Yes are right about that. Merlin just wanted Arthur to be ok and would have lied to them to save him.

Oh my gosh! I've watched the entire series, like, eight times through. Every single time, I put myself through torment in the last episode. I cry uncontrollably and I'm not ashamed of it. As the series went on, I grew attached to the characters as though they were my friends. Losing Arthur devastated me. Even though it said that Arthur would live in your description, I started shedding tears of joy when the Sidhe helped him and he spoke to Merlin for the first time since he began healing. I don't care how sappy it sounds... I love your story! It brings the characters to life and keeps their personalities from the tv show. Bravo.

Yay I'm so glad that Arthurs okay with everything. I always wanted to read a fic like this, simply continuing along the path the show would have gone had Arthur not died. I just never found one till now :D

Thanks for the reviews, everyone. ruby890, you make a good point. I thought about that, but as far as Arthur sending Merlin away, he only says "leave me," which he does pretty frequently when he wants to be alone. It seems to me more "you're dismissed" than "I don't want to see you anymore." He tells Gaius to send Merlin back to Camelot, but Merlin doesn't know that. And although Arthur didn't have much of a choice, he does go with Merlin of his own free will. Whether or not it would actually be effective, he could have ordered Gaius and Merlin to bring him back to Camelot (and Gaius would probably be more inclined than Merlin to obey the king). Besides all that, Merlin's intention in this scene is to convince the Sidhe to help him, not necessarily to be entirely truthful. I can imagine he'd fudge the truth a bit to get the job done. I don't know if that makes it better, but that was my reasoning, anyway.

Very nice chapter. But, this part kind of got me 'And yet when his servant, a nobody who polishes his armor and fetches his meals, confessed magic, he did not run. He did not harm me, he did not even send me away. He placed his life in my hands and trusted me to protect him.'

Arthur did tell Merlin to leave him when he found out about the magic. He did not run because he was to hurt and did not hurt him because again he was to hurt. The only thing he could have done was to let Merlin try to save him because its merlin he would not have stopped if asked anyway. I dying person will act differently than a person who is going to live. That's why I hated how they came out with it in the show. It really one gave Arthur one choice. Anyway can't for the update.
