![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve spent the last day devouring this story and just wanted to say how wonderful of a read it was. Thank you for writing and sharing it! |
![]() ![]() It's PER SE, not PER SAY. Ah, Latin! |
![]() ![]() ![]() A masterpiece! So very well written. You still haven't PMed me the title of your book so that I can read it and have my book club read it! All the wonderful happiness in this chapter makes up for the fact that it's The End. I have enjoyed this story SO much, even the very difficult chapters at the beginning. Chapter 4 is, to me, the best chapter in all of fanfiction. Throughout the story you have put so much meaning and emotion into your words and wrung everything possible out of the English language with such skill! I hope you'll continue to write, even if I have to pay for published writings! You're that good! All the best to you and many thanks for this and your other stories! |
![]() ![]() ![]() :'-) Sigh! First of all, congratulations not only for writing (I am at awe and admire anyone who dares), but complete it, even more, after total global chaos. Thank you so much for that! One part of us (the fans) still have hope all over these years thanks to fanfic writers. Their story isn't really over year while the are fics in progress. I really liked the hints and references to their beggining, as Matthew said stated as facts, with no bitterness. In one way, it's incredible they are in this place, but that one thing I connect with canon, that after all, it is true that they find each other again and we're happy together. This is definitely one of the rawest, angstest fics I ever read, you wrote it beautifully. Thank you again, Laura and my best wishes for you and your loved ones. Do let us know when your original story is published. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Such a beautiful lovely ending to a story that started out so dark and desperate. Of course your ending for this story is way better than canon - 3 children and a happy life together! I really enjoyed this story so much. I’m so glad you returned to it and finished it. Though I am sad that it is over. Would love it if you wrote more Mary and Matthew fanfic. Great great story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for this lovely and original story! I enjoyed it a lot! |
![]() ![]() ![]() What a beautiful ending ️️️ |
![]() ![]() I was very pleased with this new chapter. I assume Mary and Matthew will stay in Downton and use their temporary home for private vacations. I understand that Mary is using contraception, but I would like to see Mary and Matthew looking forward to the arrival of Another Baby. Matthew woukd be over moon. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love Sybil and and the way she gets right to the point! Assuming Dr. Meadows had a someone to be his second when he left, I guess he could stay! I'm glad Mary and Matthew got everything sorted, mostly the part about Christopher being the heir. "Early" (heh heh). What was that cabin supposed to be used for? I hope they have many other children! Robert has become so reasonable, is that all a result of Edith's passing? He might not be mad about Sybil marrying the chaffeur! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Such a lovely chapter. I loved the conversation with Sybil and Mary. And beautiful forgiveness- with Mary, Matthew, Robert and Cora. Sad that Edith had to die to accomplish this. I love the way Mary banishes her ghosts and how their little family comes full circle. You write with such lovely depth of emotion, I hope this story is not over. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I don’t know how I missed this chapter. It is wonderful. So sad that Edith died, but at least there was forgiveness between the sisters. And it also caused Robert to come back to his senses. Lovely seeing amends being made. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ️️️ |
![]() ![]() ![]() Sigh! I had the feeling this is the ending, although I don't see "the end" message, maybe you are considering more chapters? Poor Mary was still blaming herself! It made sense that Robert asked Matthew for the whole story, although I didn't expected him to go to Matthew. Mary is right, Robert is understanding because of Edith's death. Granny asking for the credit and being direct to Dr. Meadows is very in character. Robert is right, no one is prepared to lose a child. I am glad Sybil will pursue medicine school. I read somewhere that there was a flexibilisation to recognize children even without marriage after the War, so that makes sense. I love the symbolism of returning to the beginning and their healing, nothing hidden anymore :) |
![]() ![]() Great written. Didn't you think it would be a book? I definitely prefer your version of Downton Abbey over J. Fellows' version. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I have to admit I still worry they are travelling. Two years of self-confinement can do that to you. I am curious how they solved Christopher's inheritance, I thought Matthew was going to be a consequence of Matthew's action, but it's already done. I am glad the letter issue came up, it always bothered me that in was never adresses in canon. |
