Reviews for An Untoward Circumstance |

![]() ![]() Agree with previous comment on the attraction between Charlotte and the Colonel, utterly ridiculous. All the relationships just dumped onto the last page even Darcy confessing his feelings to Elizabeth after days of brooding and silence. Trying to plagiarize canon bits didn't work here. Mr Bennet was still an indolent failure of a man and his obsession with Elizabeth is sickening. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The romance of the colonel and Charlotte Collins spoils everything with its complete implausibility and far-fetchedness. To say that the characters behave like teenagers is to give them an undeserved compliment. Love at first sight, my God! The only thing worse is the extremely inappropriate (not to say idiotic) murder of his older brother. So that the author would kill Miss Bingley and make the story a masterpiece. Alas, the desire to make everyone happy disfigured this beautifully conceived and beautifully written story. Such a pity! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is an absolutely wonderful story. Harsh because of the crime aspect, but it is amazingly well written and the character development under these altered circumstances is magnificent! Every canon character we know was perfectly in character and under these trying circumstances developed in a believable way. I would love to name favourites, but I can't - they were all marvellous. Though I do want to make a special mention of the lovely insight in Darcy's baffledness when he offends everyone while he was just trying to help; being Asperger myself, that was *so* recognizable... Well done! And I do want to mention Bingley as well. A real character here, much as I see him, instead of the whiny spineless puppy as I often see him portrayed in fanfic. The crime aspect was also done very well. There were so many realistic possible suspects, and even some that weren't mentioned as such but could very well have been one, too (for example Bingley's footman!), that I just kept trying to guess and reason out who it could be: a real whodunnit! (And yes, the actual culprit was on my list quite early on as well :-) I loved it, too, that the Bennets' grief seemed realistic. They were not weeping all the time - not even Mrs Bennet - but tried to deal with it each in their own way, each with their ups and downs. The romances that came out of that were realistically and believably done as well. Charlotte's choice must get a special mention here - first having to choose between Collins and Fitzwilliam, each with their advantages and disadvantages, and then when disaster strikes again... my, the prerogatives of a betrothed indeed LOL What a way to be persuaded! And yes, there were more funny moments. Despite the dark theme, I've chuckled quite a few times throughout. So this story had pretty much everything I love to read in P&P context. It's going straight on my favourites list, and I'll sure be rereading it many times over! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Bravo pour cette sublime histoire, j'ai pleuré à la lecture des 12 premiers chapitres, une telle plume est un cadeau au du ciel, merci pour ce partage Bravo for this sublime story, I cried when I read the first 12 chapters, such a pen is a gift from heaven, thank you for sharing |
![]() ![]() Sending Wickham to debtors prison is certainly a safer bet than pistols at dawn. |
![]() ![]() Darcy is a dunce. |
![]() ![]() Darcy is a dunce. |
![]() ![]() Seems that Richard and Charlotte are living off Darcy's resources at Pemberley and Darcy House |
![]() ![]() Elizabeth asking the dumb ass airhead about love and comparing the it with Bingley! Morons! These written characters belong in s caricature |
![]() ![]() What a fucking awfully written story with dumb retarded characters some of whom are more obsessed lovers than anything else |
![]() ![]() STUPID DICK GARDINER LETS A MURDERER. THESE CHARACTERS ARE PUTRID |
![]() ![]() After tediously dragging this story with some awfully written characters, it now has some gumption |
![]() ![]() Kitty is such a dumb immature little girl at 17/8yrs. Little Lottie has more sense than her. Blame must lie with Mr and Mrs Bennet who being such failures as parents |
![]() ![]() Bingley and Jane are 2 obsessed dumb fools. Loverboy Bingley should have told Darcy about Edward much earlier, after all he's Darcy's family not Bingley's |
![]() ![]() Ridiculous writing. If the Earl and his wife can accept Charlotte then why would they have a problem with Elizabeth? And Darcy is the head of his family, not his uncle. His aunt Catherine too isn't relevant though she will be up in arms! Unless Darcy desperately needs more money and connections? Waste of time with Darcy's feelings and the investigation which only seemed to gain traction with Elizabeth. How does a moron like Bingley suddenly lead investigations when he can't even handle conflict |
