I know at this point considering how old this story is, it's kind of pointless but Susan isn't an orphan. She lives with her parents not Amelia Bones who was noted to live alone when she was murdered by Voldemort personally. Seriously. If Susan was her ward, then she would've been murdered alongside her aunt.
