Admittedly I didn't see THAT particular confrontation happening because I've been waiting for Umbridge to do a "blood quill equivalent" to the Ravenclaw younger years leading to Jen just murdering her. Political power, blackmail, it's all fine and useful unless the person your targeting is willing to simply unalive you.

This chapter makes little sense. Granger hates Black because she thinks, without any evidence but correctly nonetheless, that Black is a cold-blooded murderer. Yet she simultaneously doesn't think that Black has the guts to kill her. WTF? This is so silly that it detracts from the rest of the story, even though it was later addressed directly in the chapter! I know that Hermione has lots of flaws, both in canon and in this story, but this is pushing that past the limits. Not to mention that "ignored nearly every rule of decorum" is entirely inaccurate. Both followed, almost exactly, all of the dueling rules. The only difference between that duel and any of the others was that it showcased the vast difference in power between the participants, which has nothing at all to do with "decorum".

This may be the worst chapter of the saga so far, including the preceding story.

How the hell does she know that the two ghosts were from the Founders' time, and considered them family? Nobody knew that in canon other than Voldemort until Helena told Harry. I don't think even Dumbledore knew. So, again, how the hell does Jen know this? Sure, the Grey Lady said "Uncle Salazar", but the way Jen reacted she'd known this for a long time.

I think most people forget that flitwick is quarter or half or whatever goblin. He definitely has much less reservations on dark magic than most people.

As much as I dislike umbridge as a slimy human being, she has a very valid point to look into these things. Expecially if good ole dumbles is obliviating all of the students.

It's line like this, in villain's mental dialogue, that I love. Little things that show they're people, regardless of the evil the commit. And as a member of the lack'o hair club, I feel that. Kinda wanna get Voldie a beanie now.

I really love the universe you created here, great story and fortunately, I don't have to wait to find out what happens next on this one. Onwards to the 3rd instalment!
