This was really beautiful. John picked Sherlock, but he's also teaching him that it's okay to be human. Their friendship really comes together full circle in that regard and you portrayed that very beautifully. :)

Aw! Very sweet. And... like any human, Sherlock too is growing and learning. In spite of his self-professed "sociopath" status, he is beginning to appreciate some sentiment. Perhaps at the primal level, he feels so deeply that his emotional stamina can only support one or two friends.

Your letter reminds me of the letter that Sherlock Holmes left John Watson at Reichenbach falls in original ACD.

One doesn't need lots and lots of friends. One really only needs one good friend.

Beautiful, I can totally understand why you cries, cause I nearly cried reading it or seeing the scene on TV, and being involved as writer brings a story so much closer to you.
