A/N: I haven't watched the anime in a while, so forgive me if they are out of character. I've been reading some Nabari no Ou fics lately and just thought this up. I hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Nabari no Ou. That privilege belongs to Yuhki Kamatani.
Yukimi rushed around the room, dodging piles of books and papers. The phone had been ringing nonstop this morning with editors wanting their articles and company offices canceling interviews or postponing them. This surface world stuff was a pain to deal with. Then on top of all that, he had forgotten about the conference call with the Kairoshu boss. He logged in halfway through Hatori's speech, leaving Yukimi thoroughly confused and even more agitated.
He left the video call playing and went about fixing himself some lunch, finding a small window of opportunity to eat before returning to work again.
Yoite had just woken up and went over to his spot on the floor in the living room.
"You hungry?" Yukimi asked, not that he was going to fix the kid anything.
"That's a first."
Hatori's stern voice on the computer screen filled the air as the two sat in a comfortable silence.
Yukimi ate quickly and stood to take his dishes to the sink. The phone rang again, catching him off guard. The plate he was holding slipped from his grip and fell to the floor. It burst into pieces which clattered along the tile in harmony with the phone rings.
"Damn it! Just damn it all," he cursed, returning to the living room to shut off the video feed and pull the cord to the phone out of the wall.
"Don't bother me! I can't deal with you right now, Yoite!" He yelled, stomping towards the bathroom. He stopped in the doorway, "Look, I didn't mean to yell, but I've had a bad morning and I just need some time to relax. I'm going to take a shower." He stepped into the bathroom and shut the door. The hot water felt good, and he tried to keep his mind off of all his assignments.
Only a few minutes had passed before there was a knock on the bathroom door.
"Yukimi," Yoite called, just loud enough to be heard over the running water.
"What do you want?"
"I'm going out for a while."
"Where are you going?" Yukimi stuck his head out from the shower curtain.
"Damn it," Yukimi mumbled, returning to his shower, "Now for sure the boss is gonna call and ask me to bring that kid somewhere and I won't know where he is."
Yukimi finished his shower and grabbed a towel to dry off. Quickly brushing his hair, he stepped out of the steamy room with a towel wrapped around his waist.
Deciding that he'd better plug the phone back in before he angered anyone trying to get a hold of him, he headed towards the living room.
"What the-!?" He screamed at the group of people that had suddenly jumped out from behind the furniture.
"It's your birthday, silly," Kazuho held out a small cake with a few burning candles on it.
Yukimi tightly held the towel covering his lower half, "I just finished showering! Hell, what if I walk around naked when I'm alone! You can't just barge into my house! Who let you in-" he glared at Yoite sitting on the couch and sighed, "I hate you."
"Go put some clothes on and come blow out the candles already," Raiko looked at him.
"We brought you presents," Gau added, pointing to the small pile of gifts on the floor.
"I have to go an hour, so can you hurry up?"
Yukimi turned to the source of that comment and raised an eyebrow, "You're here too , brat?"
Miharu nodded from his seat on the other side of Yoite.
"Fine, fine," Yukimi waved his hand in the air, "Hold on a second."
He walked to his room and shut the door. A wide smile spread across his face as he shook his head, "Damn those guys."
