Okay so for anyone who originally read this story when I wrote this years ago...I am so sorry. So many things happened in my life and I just stopped writing for so long. I finally remembered my account login info a few months ago and threw myself in the depths of reading fanfic again after some traumatic life experiences and craved the release I used to get reading my heart away captured in stories. I stumbled back into Malec fanfic and pulled my old story up-regretful I never finished it but no idea where to start...well tonight I had been thinking about it listening to music...and this kinda sorta happened? I haven't written anything in years so I'm so sorry if anything in wonky I already know my tenses are screwed up in places but oh well I hope anyone reading this enjoys it, the years late ending to this story!

Alec felt the warmth and darkness surround him. He also felt rather than saw what he always knew to be the brilliant blue sparks of Magnus's magic. Home. The smell of sandalwood, spices, and magic. My home.

He opened his eyes, he was crossing the street, his key in hand and a smile spreading on his face as he nearly ran to the all too familiar apartment. He finally could make it. He finally could go home. A tear falls from his sapphire blue eye in joy as put the key in the lock-his smile growing broader as he turned the door knob to open the door to the only place he wants to be. He swiftly pushes the door open to run into the room-

The darkness suddenly flooding back into vision as Alec cries in surprise and anguish, "No, no, no, no, NO! I'm there, I'm right there, I'm home-ALL I WANT IS TO BE HOME!"

Then come home.

Alec's heads whips around in the darkness. That voice. So familiar...but he couldn't identify from where. All he could see was a never-ending void of black. He tries walking around, searching for the voice he heard, but no one was here but him. A familiar feeling washes over his body, the feel of being alone, something he knows all too well. What else did you expect Lightwood...Alec sighs, "Even in death I'm alone...how fitting...but at least I know the others are okay. Izzy, Jace, Clary, Magn-…." tears fall down his face as he sobs. He falls to his knees in the black abyss holding himself as his body starts to shake. "Mag-...magn...Magnus...you're okay...you never have to think about me again after all I did. I never should have but at least you don't have to worry o-..or think about me ever again...Magnus...I love you...only you...I just wish I could have gone home one last time before the end...home with you..."

Come home. Just come home.

His tear streaked head jerks up scanning the area again. Whose voice is that? He ponders gazing into the abyss again. As he was scanning the area, he noticed a small shimmer in the distance. Shakily he stands up, squinting at the shimmer to discern if it was real or all in his head. He slows starts towards it as it grows from a shimmer to soft glow. It was so inviting...to just walk towards it. He felt his face, it was wet. He was crying? Over what? Why was he crying again? He peers back at the soft white glow as he begins walking closer and closer to it. The closer he came to it the less will he had to look anywhere else, to even think about anything else. The less he even noticed the ache in his chest, he can just go to the glow, the light. He could not even remember why he did anything else in this place, it was just so inviting to go. He stops, the glowing light seemingly close enough to touch, and reaches his hand out to touch it, to finally grasp the inviting light. His fingers barely graze close enough to touch it-

"ALEXANDER GIDEON LIGHTWOOD DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP ON ME NOW" A voice shouts, no cries out in fear, in desperation into the void shaking Alec to the core. That voice. That voice he knew. Alec's eyes widen in disbelief as the light in front of him flickered, "Magnus?". Alec kept looking at the light-watching it start to flicker and twist in front of him. The ever-inviting light suddenly lost its' splendor after hearing Magnus's voice, and he felt the wetness of his tears on his cheeks and ache returning in his chest-but that faltered with the rush of emotions connected to the person behind the voice. He whips his head around in desperation searching for the voice he wants to run to. Needs to run to. Back turned to the light be felt a slight pull back towards it, an inviting pull, as he starts to run away from it searching, crying out Magnus's name in hopes for an answer.

"Alexan-...Alexander...Come back to me." he hears Magnus's voice, cry? He is crying? Alec shook his head as he concentrates trying to find where his voice was coming from. He could still feel the pull at his back, but it was not inviting to him. Not anymore. What he wanted was crying out to him in this abyss and he would be damned if he ran away from it. He wanted to go home damnit. And home was where ever HE was, nothing else mattered. Home.

The moment the thought crossed his mind, Alec felt something warm to his side. He looks but still nothing but darkness. Then something cold and wet on his face-but he was not crying himself anymore. He touches his face and felt nothing there but the sensation of the cold wet falling on his face was still there. His eyes narrow as he stops thinking about what he can, or rather can't see, and what he senses. Warmth...the smell of sandalwood and spices and...and magic...then a different kind of warmth, but this one did not seem as pleasant as the first. His mind instantly recoils from it, going as far to think of the glowing light and a supposed safety with the light. But Alec shakes his head. No. He is not going there.

"Alexander...Baby please...pl-please...don't leave me like this..."

Alec stands there as he hears Magnus's plea. He looks around again before focusing on the warmth again. His mind still reeling as if it wants to run away from it. But he did not care. Exhaling a breath that he did not know he was holding; Alec slowly allows his eyes to close. As he allows the darkness to complete, he yet again senses the warmth. He smells the sandalwoods again, feels the cold on his face but comforting warmth at his side, but focuses on the warmth-no the burning in his chest. Exhaling again, Alec dives accepting the rush of emotions and sensations to his body. Almost instantly an indescribable pain shoots thru his chest, so strong he cannot even gasp to scream in agony-just a gargled choke.

But he could somewhat identify things, the warmth and pressure against his side-felt like someone's legs? Or knees maybe? The cold wet drops on his face he could feel hit and slide down his face just as one landed on his lips, he could taste the salt and blood. Were those tears? He felt the familiar touch of his magic on his chest, the same as the pain-though it was slightly better than before, but nowhere near gone. With some of the pain alleviated Alec felt he could actually take a breath of air-a breath he needed badly. And he desperately wanted to open his eyes but they seemed to be screwed shut no matter how hard he tried to open them. So he opted to try taking a breath again. Well, tried. What Alec actually did was let out a strangled gasp and gag-but at that moment he feels the familiar magic falter for a moment, realizing how shaky it seems now. It was then he heard him speak again, in the smallest of voices in a tone he has never heard before from the only man, no only warlock he will ever love.

"Alexander?" a distraught, broken voice whispered with the smallest touch of hope. A warm hand pressed on his chest as the magic flow shakily but desperately increased. At the increase in pressure on his chest, though he welcomed it, it still hurt and he hisses softly in pain. "Alexander!" His voice cried out again.

He needed to open his eyes. And he had to do it now.

Summoning every ounce of strength he could muster from his body, Alec solely focuses on his seemingly glued shut eyes. Open. He feels his lids twitch. Godamnit OPEN. He screams in his head as he fights his bodies instinct to keep them screwed shut. After what felt like an eternity-but was just a few moments of struggle, he sees light flicker. But not the same light as before. Real light. He winces from the brightness after being in darkness for so long but wills his eyes to open again and blurrily registers he is on his back, staring at the sky before he looks to his left-the direction of the warmth from earlier and the smell of sandalwood. At first he can only make out the blurry outline of a person, black hair and golden green eyes. Blinking he tries focusing as sees the blood smeared on his face, black lines running down his face like tear tracks. He sees the torn and battered outfit stained with dirt and blood before looking back to his face, being able to focus almost completely. His beautiful eyes were looking elsewhere, fear and pain reflecting in them as he felt the pressure on his chest increase. Magnus. Magnus was here, next to him. Alec desperately tried to find his voice as a million thoughts ran thru his head of everything he wanted to say. The memories flooding back to him. Everything that happened. Then the fight with Jonathan, his words to Izzy. All he wanted was to go home. And here he was. The only reason he could run away from that glowing light. His only reason for coming back to the pain and living instead of letting himself go.

Alec felt his throat was incredibly dry and it hurt but it did not matter. Nothing else mattered. Frantically he lets out another, stronger gasp that turned into a choking cough and he watches Magnus nearly jump out of his skin. He sees panic-stricken eyes rush back to his face before he sees the man before him freeze, eyes in a dead lock with his. A glimmer of hope and relief flickers thru those beautiful eyes staring at him as Alec feels all his emotions of love rush thru his head and he felt tears form in his eyes blurring his vision. Hastily he blinks them away to clear his sight before gasping once more and barely rasping out one word.

"Magnus"

Relief and pure love wash over Magnus's features as tears stream down his face. He stares dazed for a moment before finding words again and crying out Alec's name. Nearly falling over Magnus reaches for him and pulls Alec in a firm but gentle embrace crying out into his chest. Alec vaguely recognizes gasps and words cried out from other familiar voices around them but he paid them no mind. All he focused on was the man holding him and shaking in sobs ontop of him. He struggles to barely shift his arm as he felt pain shoot thru him but he ignored it pushing further. Slowly but surely, he raises his arm until he can place his weak hand on Magnus's head rustling his hair. Magnus flinches, startled by the sudden weight on his head. Slowly Magnus lifts his head once again locking his gaze with Alec's. Alec guides his hand to shakily hold his hand against Magnus's face as he shifts, his thumb attempting to wipe the tears there. Golden green eyes slid shut for a moment as more tears fall and Magnus gently places his hand over Alec's, and he turns his head gently ghosting his lips against his wrist. Then golden green gazes back into a dull, but still alive pair of blue eyes.

Sparks and warmth flooded Alec's senses as Magnus's lips brushed against his wrist, filling him with a renewed sense of feeling and strength. With the last of his strength he slid his hand to the back of Magnus's neck and as the confusion flickers across his face, Alec pulls him down. The moment their lips met the sparks became a fire. A burning fire of love and pain and anguish. Alec pours everything he has, everything he feels into this kiss-they both do. A sealing kiss that they make an unspoken promise thru. Yes, later they needed to have a very long talk. But yes, they also both still love and value each other more than anything else in this twisted world. They were going to have more fights, misunderstandings, but also forgiveness. Their love was never going to change it was only going to grow. Both of them needed to compromise and work on things and it was going to be a long hard journey but it was worth it all to them. Nothing else mattered.

As they pulled apart Alec could again hear the cries of Izzy, Jace, and all the others around them but he let the noise fade to the background. Magnus's forehead leaning against his as his eyes were still shut was all he could focus on right now. After a moment baby blue eyes open again, meeting its' golden green counter parts matching his gaze of affection. The burning fire had spread thru his entire body making him feel so warm, so safe and protected and loved. Slowly blue eyes crinkled and a few more tears fell and his lips quivered to a small smile. The words spoken made the man above him smile in return with watery eyes and a nod of agreement at a loss of words.

"I'm home."
