Sunday January 5th - Day 42

"I'm sorry...Monroe." My mother apologizes once again.

"Really, it's fine. I understand." Monroe takes my hand under the table.

"Nick, will you tell me about you? I've been gone so long..." Her face turns guilty.

"Yeah." I take a sip of orange juice, "Well, I'm a detective with the Portland PD now. A fully fledged Grimm though I'm sure Monroe would argue with all the help he gives me, all that I don't know. Though up until not too long ago I had a normal life. I didn't know anything about anything that might go bump in the night. I had a house in the suburbs with a longterm girlfriend that I was set to marry until I saw a Hexenbeast's true face on the street in the middle of the day. It all went downhill with her from there though it was for the better. Soon after I got with Monroe and here we are now."

"Your aunt never told you about your heritage?"

"She died before she had the chance."

"I'm sorry."

I nod, fiddling with the straw in my drink.

"And what's with the brawn?" She looks over to the two officers seated at the next table.

"Renard, my captain, he thinks some people might come after them. Use them. They'll be powerful beyond what any have seen before. He worries."

"I worry." Monroe releases my hand to wrap his arm around my waist.

"So do I but there's nothing we can do about it unless they come forward."

We finish off breakfast with more pleasant conversations before parting with my mother and heading home.

"I desperately need a nap." I stretch, pulling off my coat in the front hall.

"Me too but I think I'm going to shower first. Then I'll join you."

"Monroe." I shake the Blutbads shoulder, waking him up.

"What?" He groans, brushing his wild mass of hair out of his face.

"Look." I pull up my shirt so he can see my stomach.

"What the hell?"

"I know right?"

"That's freaky." Monroe stares at my stomach.

"I know." Under the stretched skin of my stomach the twins are twisting, pushing out feet and arms causing it to buldge out in different spots, "It must be getting cramped in there." I laugh.

"They're only going to get bigger."

"Don't remind me."

"You'll look amazing. Just like you looked amazing when we first met and just like you'll look amazing fifty years from now."

"You're such a sap."

"You love it."

"Of course." I look over to the clock, "What are we going to do with the rest of our day? It's only eleven."

"I'm fine right here." Monroe moves closer and wraps his arms securely around me.

"Alright." I roll onto my side and Monroe scoots back a little to fit my stomach between us. "I won't object to that."

Well this took me a month to write :/ ah well, I found the time and here it is :)
