I do not own Harry Potter.

"Listen, Harry, before we get to Gringotts I want to talk to you about an idea I have," said Daphne, holding his arm so he had to stop walking when she did.

The group slowed and looked at the two curiously.

"What is it?" asked Harry.

"All those stories from second year, about you and the Basilisk, were they true?"

Harry looked at her like she was crazy but replied, "Uh, yeah, why?"

"You were able to defeat Slytherin's own snake? And in the Chamber of Secrets, no less?"

"Yes."

Daphne stared at him for some time but he could tell she was thinking furiously. "And fourth year, the tournament, did you really fight you-know-who?"

"Yes. What's this about Daphne?" he asked, irritated.

She held up her hand and muttered, "defeated the heir when he was a baby, then Slytherin's monster in second year, then the heir again in fourth year."

"What are you thinking Daphne?" asked Draco.

Daphne looked up and saw the group waiting expectantly. "Just hear me out… okay?"

Everyone nodded.

"If You-know-who is the heir of Slytherin… as he is rumored to be…"

"No, I know he is. His mother was from the Gaunt line," said Harry.

"Right. And we know Harry defeated him when he was a baby."

"Yes," said Draco.

"That alone should be enough but then Harry defeated Slytherin's Basilisk in second year. Plus, he speaks Parseltongue, which only Slytherin's line can do. And then he defeated the heir again in fourth year."

"You're forgetting when he defeated him in first year," added Hermione.

Everyone looked at Harry in surprise, but he just shrugged.

"That just makes it even more probable," said Daphne, smiling.

"Makes what more probable?" asked Harry, obviously not following.

"You think…" said Blaise astonished, catching onto Daphne's train of thought.

"I don't know," said Draco, chiming in.

"It's not something I've seen but it could be beneficial to us," added Luna.

"Will someone tell me what in the bloody hell you're all talking about?" snapped Harry.

"I think you can claim Head of House for Slytherin, Harry," said Daphne.

"What?" asked Hermione shocked.

"It makes sense. Harry's beaten the heir several times, plus the traps that Slytherin himself set up. The oldest family lines usually have clauses for non-blood relations taking the realm, if they proved worthy enough. I would say everything that Harry's done would satisfy whatever challenge Slytherin setup for determining an heir should the line die out." Explained Draco.

"Even if you're right, which is insane to think about, how would this help us?" asked Hermione.

The Slytherin's all looked at Hermione like she was truly stupid. But it was Draco that tried to explain, "We can't use our real names in this timeline, there's too much risk. But we also don't want to use muggle names, because then we won't have any credibility. Stop, it's true," he added when he saw her getting upset. "First, we need names of influence and second, we need to stay together. The best way for us to do this is to all be sorted into the same house, and due to the timeline, our best bet in figuring out what is going on is to be sorted into Slytherin."

"Absolutely not!" snapped Hermione.

Harry sighed, having already thought of this but didn't want to bring it up just yet. "Let's figure out the sorting after. Wouldn't claiming Slytherin bring a lot of attention on us? I mean, don't we want to try and blend in here, until we can go home?"

"He's got a point," said Blaise.

"It would bring a fair amount of attention," said Draco, "But aren't you used to be the center of attention Mr Chosen One?"

Harry rolled his eyes and shoved Draco in the shoulder.

"Let's see what the Goblin's have to say," said Luna dreamily before she started to walk again.

Harry shrugged and followed her, deciding that it wouldn't be a bad idea to hear what the Goblin's thought. Hermione walked away as well leaving the three Slytherin's standing there in awe.

"That's it? You're just going to let the Goblin's decide?" asked Daphne loudly.

Harry turned and said, "Yeah, why not?"

Before Daphne could express her outrage, Draco cut across and said, "Let's just go. It's not worth arguing over right now."

Daphne looked mutinous, but she huffed and started walking with him, Blaise following close behind shaking his head.

A half an hour later they found themselves in the Hogsmeade branch of Gringotts waiting to talk to the branch manager. Finally, after a long wait in a conference room the doors opened revealing a very familiar looking Goblin.

"Griphook?" asked Harry.

The goblin nodded before shutting the door behind him. He was carrying a stack of parchment with him and they watched as he passed all of them and sat down at the head of the table. "How can Gringotts help you today?"

Everyone looked to Harry to answer.

He ran his hands through his hair then said, "It's going to sound crazy but we somehow, accidentally …"

"Traveled back in time?" finished Griphook matter-of-factly, as he separated his parchment into piles.

"How did you know?" asked Hermione shocked.

"He's a Goblin," answered Luna, which earned a nod from Griphook.

Hermione went to respond but Daphne cut her off and asked, "What else do you know?"

"I know that in the early hours of the day six accounts registered an anomaly, suddenly adding new members, and in some cases changing the Head of House. So which one of you is Lord Black?"

Harry raised his hand.

"And Lord Potter?"

Again, Harry raised his hand.

The Goblin growled then asked, "Lord Malfoy?"

Draco said, "That's me."

"Heir to Greengrass?"

"Me," said Daphne.

"Heir to Lovegood?"

"That's me. I'm Luna," said Luna standing up.

Everyone looked at her strangely.

"And Heir to Zabini?"

Blaise said, "Right here."

"You called me Lord. Does that mean that I am still Lord Malfoy?"

"Yes."

"But my Grandfather is alive in this timeline?"

"He is. We were just getting ready to send notifications to the current Heads letting them know of the aberration."

"You can't do that!" said Hermione panicked.

Daphne rolled her eyes at Hermione's display and tried to smooth things over, "Would you mind holding off on sending the notifications until we've had a chance to talk with you about the ramifications of us being here?"

The Goblin sat back, his interest peaked.

"We were hoping to use different names while we were in this timeline. Each house usually has lines that were absorbed into them by marriage and if we could find out which lines are no longer active but are associated with each of our houses we could go by that name instead."

"It's possible."

Daphne nodded and continued, "Also, I believe Harry can qualify for Head of House of an older line due to conquest."

The Goblin turned and appraised Harry, clearly not impressed. "Which House?"

"Slytherin," he replied.

"That line has been unclaimed for quite a while."

Harry nodded, un-phased.

"What would he have to do to find out?" asked Hermione nervously.

Griphook was quiet for several minutes before he finally replied, "The first would be a lineage test. That will tell us which lines you are eligible for. If Slytherin appears as eligible then we would proceed to the next step."

"Which is?" asked Harry.

"I believe it involves taking a potion and then gaining access to the vault."

Harry raised his eyebrows, "That's it?"

"More or less," replied the Goblin evasively.

Harry looked to Draco and then Daphne.

"The lineage test is common, so there's no reason not to proceed with that," said Daphne.

"It might be good for all of us to do that, to identify other houses we could fall under. Then we can use that name," said Luna.

Hermione frowned and said, "But I'm muggleborn Luna."

Luna just shrugged.

Harry looked to Draco again, who replied, "Luna has a point. It's theorized that muggleborns are descendants of squibs."

Hermione looked to Blaise and Daphne for confirmation and they both nodded.

"Alright, I guess that's decided," said Harry turning back to Griphook.

"It costs 100 galleons per lineage test."

Harry nodded and said, "You can take the cost for all of them out of one of my vaults."

There was a fair amount of protest, but Harry just waved his hand, motioning them all to be quiet.

Griphook pressed a button under the table and another Goblin entered the room. "I need the materials to perform six lineage tests," he ordered.

The other Goblin nodded and left the room.

"How is it that Harry is still Lord if the previous Lords are alive?" asked Hermione.

"Gringotts has had rules regarding time travel since it was invented. In the event of time travel the future Head of House trumps the present Head of House. Same goes for heirs. Future heirs trump current heirs."

"But why?" she pressed.

"It is thought that if a Head of House travels back in time that they will have knowledge that will benefit the House, ensuring continuation of the line."

"That makes sense," said Daphne.

"That's great and all but what if they decide to kill us? My grandfather is not going to be pleased that I have taken over as Head," said Draco.

"A Head of House can't be killed by members of his own house," replied the Goblin.

Harry frowned and said, "But Bellatrix killed Sirius and he was the Head of House at that time."

Hermione shook her head and said, "I don't think she meant to Harry, I think she stupefied him and he fell back into the veil, which killed him."

Harry scrunched up his face not wanting to think about it anymore.

"I should have been clearer. They can kill the Head of House but then they wouldn't be able to take the Head of House for themselves. The family magic in the Head's ring would recognize the murderer of the previous Head, and then cast them out of the family."

Harry scrubbed his face with his hands not wanting to talk about this anymore. Luckily for him the door opened, and a pair of Goblins came in with a bowl, ceremonial dagger and several parchments. They set them down in front of Griphook and quickly left the room.

"Which of you would like to go first?" asked Griphook.

"Harry, you should go first," said Daphne.

Everyone nodded, and Harry stood and moved next to Griphook at the head of the table.

"You'll need to slice your hand with this dagger and drip the blood into the bowl. The parchment will start to fill itself out when enough blood has been added for the test to be completed."

Harry looked at the large blade, reminded instantly of the blade Voldemort used to cut up his arm in the graveyard in fourth year. He shook his head of the memories and grabbed the dagger, quickly slicing across his left palm. He hissed in pain then turned his hand over so that the blood began to drip into the bowl. He looked up to see that everyone had moved closer to him, wanting to see what the parchment revealed. After what felt like an eternity the parchment finally started to fill itself out.

Harry shook his head and said, "No. I've never even heard the name before."

"The Peverell's are thought to be the original owners of the Deathly Hallows," she replied as if that would mean something to him.

He raised his eyebrow but before he could inquire further Draco snapped, "Who cares about that! I don't want to be here all bloody day! Will someone go next already!"

"Why don't you go then Draco," said Hermione, amused by his temper.

He huffed and moved to the front, next to Griphook who was finishing cleaning everything. He moved Harry's parchment aside and placed a blank sheet next to the now clean bowl before handing Draco the dagger. Draco quickly cut his hand and turned it over to drip into the bowl.

Hermione nodded and looked to Harry, who smiled gently at her. She was quite nervous as she walked over to Griphook. She wasn't sure if she wanted to see she was related to a long-lost line of wizards or not. She took a deep breath and took the dagger from Griphook, quickly slicing her palm, hissing as it was much deeper than she had wanted to cut it. The blood flowed quickly into the bowl and it took quite a bit before the parchment started to fill. Her eyes widened, and Harry moved to her side, looking down at the parchment with her.

"Blishwick?" asked Harry, looking up at Draco.

"What? Seriously?" asked Draco moving to Hermione's side to look at the parchment. "They were pureblood. The last was a witch and she married into the Black's. I was told they never had any children and the line died out, but they must have had a squib…."

Hermione seemed to be in a state of shock, so Harry pointed and said, "Yes, they must have but that means she's blood related to House Black."

Draco nodded and said, "Wow."

By this point Luna, Daphne and Blaise were all looking down at the parchment too.

"Well, as the first magical in generations you are eligible to claim the house, Miss Granger." Said Griphook. "There is a line renewal clause that allows for you to do so."

"You should do it," said Draco quietly. "You need to go by another name in this timeline anyway and it will give you credibility to have a pureblood name."

Hermione nodded, still unable to believe what was happening.

"I'll send for the paperwork and House ring," said Griphook.

"Could you send for mine as well, Griphook? I'd like to claim the houses I'm eligible for as well," said Harry.

"Of course, Lord Potter."

"Harry, I know we came here hoping you could claim Slytherin but now that I see you can claim House Peverell, I think that would be a better name to be known by," said Daphne quietly.

"Why do you say that?" asked Harry.

"Because it won't bring as much attention to us," replied Blaise.

"But can he claim it and not have it known," asked Hermione.

"I'm not sure. It's not usual for someone to be Head of House but not want it known," said Draco.

"That does bring us full circle to our notifications to the current heads of houses," said Griphook moving back to the table.

"You have to notify them of their change of status?" asked Daphne.

"I do."

"Do you have to tell them who the new Head of House is? Or just that they are no longer the Head of House?"

Griphook grinned which was quite scary, "I do not have to inform them of who the new Head of House is."

"Excellent," said Draco.

"Why is that excellent? Won't they need access to their money? What about decisions that need to be made?" asked Hermione.

Harry frowned and looked to Griphook to answer.

"It is up to you as the new Head of House if you allow them access to the vault."

Harry's eyes widened, and he said, "Of course they can have access to it, it's their money."

Griphook nodded but Hermione cut in, "Harry, you're Head of House Black, which means that a lot of their money is probably going to Voldemort."

"There's also the marriage contracts," added Draco.

"What?"

"This is about the time that my parents entered into a betrothal agreement. The Head of House must negotiate that. And I'm sure Bellatrix and Andromeda will have one as well."

Harry's eyes widened, and he moved to a nearby chair to sit down.

Hermione frowned and said, "That's barbaric."

"But it's still common practice," said Daphne.

"Don't forget that House Potter is probably contributing a lot of money to Dumbledore," added Blaise.

"That is problematic," said Luna.

"Great. I'm head of two houses who are currently on opposite sides of the war, lovely."

"Soon to be five," said Griphook putting down two rings nestled in boxes on the table as well as a potion.

Harry looked to him questioningly and he said, "You just need to put the rings on, one at a time, letting the magic determine if you're worthy of the Head of House. After that you should take the potion for Slytherin House. If you are worthy the ring will appear on your finger."

"Will I be able to hide all but the Peverell ring?"

"Yes."

Harry nodded and grabbed the Peverell ring first. It was a simple ring made of gold with a black stone in the middle with a triangle type symbol etched onto it.

"That's the sign of the deathly hallows," said Luna.

Harry ignored her and placed the ring on his right index finger. He immediately was inundated with images and whispers of past ancestors. He covered his face and closed his eyes, nauseous from the onslaught. After what felt like an eternity he opened his eyes and saw Hermione in tears, being held by Draco and an anxious looking Luna kneeling beside him.

"Are you alright?" asked Luna, reaching out to place her hand on his knee.

Harry nodded, "Yeah, I think so."

"Oh Harry," cried Hermione as she hugged him tightly, practically sitting in his lap.

"Hey now, I'm fine," he said, rubbing her back.

"Are you sure? You were moaning as if you were in pain and you were clutching your head."

"I'm sure, Mione," he said soothingly.

"Did you see the memories of the past," asked Luna?

He nodded, and she squeezed his knee in comfort before getting up.

"Is that going to happen with the other two houses?" asked Blaise.

"Perhaps," said Luna.

Blaise rolled his eyes and turned away.

"Hermione, would you mind claiming your House now? I need a bit of a break before I can do that again," said Harry.

Hermione nodded and looked to Griphook, still sitting on Harry's lap.

Griphook approached with the ring box in hand and said, "You just need to put it on."

Hermione hesitated, and Harry wrapped his arms around her waist, squeezing her tight in support. She took a deep breath and then took the ring out of its box. It was not exactly her style, and was obviously made for a man. It was a silver and gold band, weaved together like vines with a large opal stone on top. She grimaced slightly but put it on all the same. To her surprise the ring immediately resized itself to fit her but also morphed into a much more feminine version, which she quite liked. She felt a surge in her magic briefly but otherwise did not experience anything like Harry.

He squeezed her tight and kissed her cheek.

Draco grinned and said, "Welcome to the family, cousin."

Hermione rolled her eyes and said, "Oh shut it, you." But it was clear to all she was happy.

"Your turn again Lord bed-head," smirked Draco.

"Very funny, Lord pale-ass," replied Harry. He reached forward for the ring and picked it up, turning it in his hand, "This doesn't feel the same as the others."

"It's likely that you will have to pass one last test since you are claiming this House under conquest," replied Griphook.

"Fantastic," said Harry, without any humor. He patted Hermione's side and said, "Perhaps you should stand aside for this."

She nodded and stood from his lap, moving to his side, "Good Luck," she whispered before giving him a chaste kiss.

He smiled then quickly put the second ring on, immediately clenching his jaw in pain. He closed his eyes as well and listened to the incessant hissing filling his head. Parseltongue. He internally grinned knowing he would be fine. He concentrated on what was being said and then replied. After a lengthy conversation he finally felt the magic surround and enter him, leaving him exhausted and panting. He opened his eyes and looked down to see the Gaunt ring molding to fit him. It was a large gold ring, with snakes engraved on either side of a small dull green stone.

"Two down, one to go," said Hermione, smiling at him in reassurance.

Harry nodded and reached for the potion Griphook was now holding out for him, ignoring the looks everyone was giving him. He quickly tossed back the potion and within seconds fell to the floor unconscious.

Hermione immediately checked to make sure he still had a pulse and sighed in relief when she found one. "He's alive," she said, sitting herself on the floor next to him before she pulled his head into her lap.

The others gathered around, the Slytherin's preferring to stand while Luna sat down on the floor next to Hermione.

"Now, we wait," said Luna.
