Rose gazed at her sleeping Doctor and smiled, he looked so relaxed resting in just his trousers and sneakers.
She cuddled up closer next to his lap and sighed happily. "Just me and him relaxing in bed."
This was such a contrast compared to what had happened to them earlier at that planet under the black hole.
The very thought of almost leaving the Doctor to die on that horrible planet made her shudder.
The reality she could actually lose him was becoming more real every day.
"I could've lost him in that pit." She realized gazing up at him.
Rose couldn't bear the thought of losing him.
On an impulse she tenderly kissed his palm; he slowly opened his eyes and smiled.
"Hello." The Doctor said.
"Hello." She smiled.
"Still scared?" He asked rubbing her cheek.
Rose nodded and turned over on her back and laid there on his lap.
The Doctor sighed. "Can't blame you after all you went thru."
"I almost lost you." Rose muttered.
"But I'm here thanks to you." He replied.
Rose lovingly traced his stomach with her finger.
"It was still scary." She said softly.
The Doctor gently stroked her hair. "I know, these adventures can get scary."
"I think losing you is worse." Rose replied.
"I'll just regenerate." He said.
"Not always." She answered.
The Doctor lowered his eyes. "No, not always."
"And you can't promise we'll always be together, can you?" She said.
The Doctor didn't know how to respond.
"I don't want to imagine my life without you in it." Rose said caressing his face.
He sighed. "I know, I don't want to either but I can't promise we'll never be apart."
"So what happens if we are?" Rose replied.
He smiled. "You know the answer to that."
She nodded. "You want me to have a fantastic life, I remember."
"Exactly and don't worry about me, I'll be fine." The Doctor said.
"So you think it will happen, that someday we'll be separated?" She asked.
He sighed. "Well, I hope not but let's worry about that when it happens."
She lowered his eyes. "Fair enough." Rose whispered.
"I do love you Rose Tyler." He said gently kissing her.
"I love you, too." She smiled.
They held each other close and took some comfort that "someday" still hadn't happen to them...yet.
