Mikasa hesitantly knocks on the door of his office.

"Come in," Levi said impatiently. The door opens and a blank-faced Mikasa Ackerman walks in.

"You wanted to speak with me, sir," Mikasa said with curiosity.

"Yes. Sit down," he ordered. Mikasa sat down in the chair facing Levi. They were silent until Mikasa asked, "So, why did you want to speak with me?"

"I would like to know why you hate me so goddamn much," Levi said. He had been thinking about this for the past few months and it was driving him insane. She was driving him insane.

"I don't hate you," Mikasa said, " I merely dislike you."

"Well then why do you dislike me," Levi asked getting more curious.

"I think you know what you did,"Mikasa said. She thought of the trial and how Armin had to hold her back from starting a fight with the Corporal. She gets very defensive when it comes to her adoptive brother, Eren.

"Look, brat. If I hadn't done that Eren would most likely be dead right should be thanking me instead of glaring at me."

"Well you didn't have to go so far."

Levi didn't respond to her comment. He was thinking about telling her to leave but then she spoke.

" Why-," Mikasa started to ask him a question but Levi cut her off. He knew what she was going to ask him.

" You should ask for permission before you ask your commanding officer a question."

Mikasa rolled her eyes. "Permission to ask you a question, sir?"

"Permission granted, Ackerman."

"Why do you care if I hate you or even dislike you? You don't seem like the type of person that cares about what other people think of them."

"Well, you are a… a good soldier. And I… uh… care about you and your opinions. So I wanted to know if I am a good leader to you. Yeah, that's it."

Mikasa was surprised by his response. Levi could see the shock on her face. He considered if he should tell her. He couldn't understand why he was acting like this. He could face titans with no problem but he gets tongue-tied when talking to a brat. But it wasn't any brat, this was Mikasa Ackerman.

"Um," Mikasa didn't know what to say or think. She thought it was ridiculous that she was confused by it. He just called a good soldier, that's it. But still she couldn't help but to hope that there was something more behind what he was saying.

Levi had had enough. He was going to tell her. He was going to do it.

"Ackerman, I-I-I think about you a lot. I like how passionate you can be and you are so strong and you look good in that scarf and your hair is nice and that one time I saw you smile because Kirschtein tripped and fell on his ass after trying to impress you and I thought that you have the best smile ever and-," Levi realized he was rambling. He didn't care, he had to let out the thoughts that have been taking over him the past few months.

Mikasa couldn't think about anything except how surprised she was. This was all coming from the Corporal's mouth. When he finished rambling, Mikasa was still in shock. He waited for her to say something. Mikasa was able to get past the shock and realized how happy she was. She had disliked him at first but she soon respected him and even liked him.

"Do you really mean all that?" she asked. She needed to make sure it wasn't a dream.

" Of course I do, brat. It is impossible to make that stuff up."

Levi thought that for anyone else it would have been the perfect time to kiss but that seemed strange to he thought that maybe he should ask her on a date. But that wasn't them either. It was silent until Mikasa spoke.

" Do you want to spar with me some time?" Mikasa had asked the perfect question.

"Of course I would." She had taken the words right out of his mouth.
