Hi, there! This is just a short little something that's been playing in my head for a long, long time. I started to write it such a long time ago and finally made a little scene out of the few sentences I had ready. I hope you enjoy it!
Pairing: MirAndy (Miranda/Andy - The Devil Wears Prada)
Disclaimer: Same as always… Nothing's mine. I just play with these amazing characters.
Please comment and review! They really keep me going.
"I won't be one of your accessories, the kind you can just throw away when you want, Miranda. What you did to me at that ball… I was humiliated. I won't be your plaything, I just won't," Andy almost yelled, fire in her eyes.
"What's so funny?" Andy asked with pure annoyance in her voice. She was so done just standing next to Miranda, being there, feeling stupid and worthless while being ignored by the people. All night she had just stood there. She had had to listen to the whispers… People had talked about them - more specifically they had talked about Andy. Miranda's new "toy" that would eventually get thrown away. She hated them for saying that but also wondered if there was any truth to it. All this had made her mind go crazy which ended up her lashing on Miranda.
She was also disgusted by those gross men, showing their appreciation of Miranda's beautiful body that was well showcased in that amazing, blood red Oscar de la Renta… Okay, now she was getting a bit carried away. She realised Miranda hadn't answered her.
"What. Are. You. Laughing. About?" Andy asked, emphasising each and every word, almost sobbing them out. She now had tears in her eyes, she felt so defeated. Her shoulders drooped and she turned her gaze away from Miranda, unable to look at her lover.
"I'm sorry, I just think that it is funny, how not a long ago you knew nothing about accessories and now you're exclaiming to be one," Miranda said with a wicked smile on her face.
When she noticed that Andy was starting to leave, obviously feeling hurt, she quickly got up from her chair and went to the younger woman. She realised she went too far with her joke.
"You silly girl..." she said behind Andy, holding her hand but not seeing Andy's face. "You are not an accessory. You are my equal. My partner. I would never treat you as some necklace. Don't listen to those stupid people. They are just jealous of what we have."
Andy turned around only to get her lips captured by a soft mouth. They kissed gently, Miranda pouring all the love she had for the younger woman, to the kiss.
"I'm sorry." Andy felt ashamed. She knew, right away when she had started, that it was not right to get mad at Miranda. It wasn't exactly her fault that the people talked. No matter what she did, they would always talk. Andy just had to get used to it. Miranda took Andy's head between her hands and stared at her in the eyes.
"It's quite all right. I know it can be tough at first, but we'll make it," Miranda said while holding Andy close, stroking her hair.
"I know we will," Andy whispered, without any hesitation. She really did know.
