A/N: Hey guys, Happy New Year! Thank you to those who reviewed! This is the last chapter for this fic. It's been fun. Let me know what you think or if you have any new ideas! Until next time...
"Alright lets load it up!" Brian told them as they stood just a few miles from the orphanage. They were preparing for what they imagined to be an explosive confrontation with Owen Shaw.
"He has men all over on the place." Giselle informed them after arriving from some seriously intensive recon work.
"Don't worry about it." Dom told her smoothly. Letty grabbed his arm and pulled him aside.
"Dominic stay back." Letty hissed at him. He knew she was worried and gently caressed her cheek.
"You know why I can't do that." He said to her softly before pecking her lips.
"He's going to kill you. This isn't going to be some cockfight. He'll fucking kill you. He almost succeeded already."
"Almost…I thought you'd have more faith in me."
"That was before you were dying on a hospital bed. Don't do it." She begged him with a kiss.
"You stay", Dom said staring into her anguish filled eyes. They soon darted away from his consuming glare. "You see Let. It's not that easy. Don't ask me to do something you aren't willing to do. Come on we gotta make this happen." He said stepping away from her before walking up to the rest of their team.
"Letty and Giselle you're on delivery. We're hanging back until you're inside. Leon, Rome, and Han, you're taking down the base." Brian said throwing the RX-8s car keys at them. "Once you've taken it out, we're gonna move in." He continued gesturing to Dom and himself. "Vince you're back up. You stay hot on our tail and deal with the stragglers. Any questions?"
"What about the kids?" Leon asked as they all looked at each other warily. "You're basically asking us to do a drive by. This ain't no block in Echo Park brother."
"You know exactly what to do." Dom told him sternly.
"Make sure they're out of the way. Disarm anyone with a weapon, just like we practiced." Brian informed them.
"That was like a year ago man!"
"We don't have time for this. People are going to start dying in less than an hour. We need to move now." Dom said getting into his 1969 Camaro ZL1. "Lets go!"
Letty took a deep breath and got into her 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda with Giselle. She drove in the direction of the poor orphanage found just beyond the desert. There were two heavily armed men at the front steps. They walked up to them and were immediately seized. "Name!" The larger one barked at them.
"Get your hands off of me." Letty suggested coolly, though she said it with an eerie calm that she had mastered over the years.
"Who's going to make me?" The man challenged. The girls looked at each other and smirked. In one swift move they had removed themselves from the two men. They quickly disarmed them and pinned them to the ground.
"I think that answers your question." Giselle said giving her opponent a half smile. The men continued to groan on the ground as the women walked inside the tall building.
"Owen!" Letty called out.
"There's no need to yell darling." He said coming down the stairs.
"You need to do better. That's who you have watching your back? It's like having a puppy guard your house." Letty criticized.
"Those oafs? They aren't my guards. They're thugs. But these gentlemen behind you are." He said catching both women off guard. "Snatch them up." He commanded of the men.
"Where are the children?" Giselle demanded. Owen smiled at them ominously.
"They're safe as long you kept your word." He informed. "Search them."
"Come on Owen, I know better than to believe this is going to be a clean business deal."
"You're right." He said as one of his men brought out an elderly nun. "This woman, her name is Agatha. She's American. She started this place over twenty years ago." Agatha wept in her captor's grasp. "Letty I know you know I'm not stupid enough to believe you're alone. Dommy wouldn't let that happen now would he? Especially not after he finally got what I took from him so long ago", He said nearing her.
"Please!" The old woman begged hysterically. "These children need me."
"I'm sorry Agatha. I must teach an old friend a lesson." Owen said turning around and shooting her dead. Letty shut her eyes one-second too late.
"Oh my God", Giselle gasped as she witnessed Agatha's dead body slam onto the floor. "Leticia I'm keeping my promise to you." He said snapping his fingers. One of his guards brought out a small girl into the center of the room. The young girl seemed terrified. She was dirty and her clothes were matted. The child could not have been more than eight years old. "I want the real diamond, not the shit you brought in that bag. I don't need to look to know it's a decoy."
"Why are you doing this?" Letty asked wrangling herself free.
"Because I can. You betrayed me. Don't forget that love."
"You lied to me! You started all of this! I want to know why! All this hurt just for this little gem that sparkles."
"It's anything but little. Don't depreciate the worth of such rarity." He told her calmly.
"You have enough money! You didn't have to do all of this."
"You can never have enough money darling. It's impossible."
"Two years we were together, two MOTHERFUCKING years. I believed in you."
"I apologize that I've hurt your feelings."
"Don't patronize me, you callous prick!"
"I loved you. I wanted you. I got you."
"Bullshit! You're sick! You know that? You knew about everything. You don't do that to someone you love." Letty screamed at him, which Owen followed up with a smack. Letty fell to the ground shaking with anger.
"I treated you better than he ever did."
"Yeah I guess this pain on the side of my face is an expression of your love too." She growled getting up from the ground.
"You're a pathetic excuse for a person! Tell me when and I'll shoot him." Giselle told Letty as she cocked her gun.
"You knew how broken I was after the attack. How can you live with yourself after that." Letty continued to interrogate.
"At the time you were just a mark, the last piece to my puzzle, but after playing pretend for so long. I guess a did acquire a liking towards you."
"You killed my baby."
"It was a fetus."
"It was a person."
"It wasn't mine."
"You're going to die today. I thought I should let you know that."
"You have to catch me first."
"As soon as we hand that diamond over, everyone here dies. Right?"
"Everyone except me." Owen added stoically. "Sorry, that is just how this is going to play out."
"You know you say we're predictable." Dom's voice came from behind them, causing Owen to smile. "But you're pretty predictable yourself."
"Old friend", Owen greeted. "It's always a pleasure. I see you brought your balls with you." Dom chuckled dryly as Shaw gestured to Brian and Vince behind him.
"Good one, at least I always have balls. Why don't you fuck off and let these people free?"
"Where's the fun in that? I assume you've brought what I've asked for?"
"Unhand the girl."
"Unhand the diamond."
"You first, it's the gentlemen thing to do." Dom told him. Brian, Giselle, Letty and Vince pointed their firearms at Owen, who smirked in response.
"How quaint", he commented. "I've already kept my end of the deal." He said pointing to a dead Agatha. "I'm growing tired of these games. Hand over the diamond or kill her." Owen said pointing his gun at the small child who wet herself as she cried in terror. Dom unwrapped the gem and handed it to Owen.
"It's been a pleasure doing business with you. Once I'm safely in my way, I'll call off my team."
"I have to say Shaw, you almost had a perfect plan, almost. You forgot one key thing. This puzzle you speak of, the interchangeable pieces?"
"What are you on about now Toretto?"
"You're one of them. Abdi let the girl go. Letty get her out of here. She doesn't need to see what happens next." The guard let the child go and Letty grabbed the small girl in her arm attempting to soothe her blubbering tears.
"What are you doing, you buffoon? I didn't give the order to release her."
"Anyone ever tell you that you're kind of a dick?" Vince asked mockingly.
"Ever heard the phrase you catch more flies with honey?" Brian chimed in with a smile.
"It looks like you have mutiny on your hands Shaw. Maybe if you were a little nicer to others you could have avoided this whole mess." Dom smiled. He had worked out a few deals with many of the men on Shaw's team before evading premises. Those who did not agree to the terms had been taken care of.
"What?" Owen asked genuinely surprised.
"It's game over man." Dom said as he watched Letty take the young girl out of the room. "Giselle let the others know it's time." She nodded and quickly left to help free the prisoners.
"So this is when you kill me, huh?" Owen challenged boldly.
"No, first I'm going to fuck you up. Then I'm going to kill you." Owen whipped out his gun and attempted to fire at Dom, who was too quick for Owen's attempt. Dom shot Owen in the leg bringing him to his knees.
"Hold him." He commanded Brian and Vince. Dominic proceeded to pummel Owen with a steady flow of blows. "You worthless piece of shit!" Dom yelled as he beat the man. "I'm…ending…this…right now."
On the other side of the door Letty was tending to the young girl from before. "Are you alright? Do you know English?" She asked her. The child vigorously nodded her head.
"Yes, sister Agatha teaches us English." The young girl hyperventilated.
"It's gonna be okay. I promise." Letty said wiping her tears away. "What's your name?"
"Kamilah", the young girl continued to cry.
"Kamilah, wow that's a beautiful name. Who gave it to you?"
"Thank you, my parents. They're dead." Kamilah whimpered.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Did the bad man touch you?"
"He pushed me, and pulled my hair." She informed Letty with her thick Arabic accent.
"We're gonna make the bad man go away." Letty reassured just before they heard a gunshot go off on the other end of the hall.
"Ahh!" The young Kamilah panicked.
"It's okay. He's gone. I need you to go downstairs. Okay?"
"Don't leave me." The young girl begged attaching herself to Letty.
"I'll come back to find you. I promise."
"I don't want to be alone."
"My friends are downstairs. They'll take care of you until I get back." Letty swore. "Go" Kamilah made her way down, and Letty ran back to the room, bracing herself for what would be on the other side of the door. "All clear she?" She called out guarded with her gun.
"All clear" Dom confirmed causing Letty a great sigh of relief. She opened the door and ran to him. She kissed him fiercely.
"I almost thought it went the other way around." She murmured against his lips. Dom chuckled faintly.
"No faith", he said shaking his head.
"It's finally over." Letty acknowledged looking down at a lifeless Owen.
"Yeah, it's gonna be you and me now." He smiled at her kissing her again.
Six Months Later
"Isn't she wonderful." Letty commented to Dom as they watched Kamilah play amongst the other children. They and the rest of the team had assisted with the rebuilding of the orphanage, following the aftermath of Shaw's demise. They traveled back and forth regularly helping out in any way they could. They donated a lot of money to the orphanage in hopes of bettering its conditions. The children were now better fed, clothed, and educated. Letty's relationship with the young Kamilah had flourished. They would constantly talk even when she was away.
"Yeah, she's one strong little girl." Dom said eagerly waving at Kamilah from afar.
"I hate leaving her. It gets harder every time."
"You don't have to leave her." Dom said handing her a large envelope.
"Open it. Call it an early birthday present." Letty opened it to find processed adoption papers and an American passport for Kamilah.
"How?" Letty smiled.
"This can't be too surprising. I know a guy, who knows a guy." He smirked nonchalantly. "I think it's time we start that family now." Letty beamed at him.
"You're amazing. You know that?"
"I've been told once or twice." She leaned in to kiss him once again. "We really get to keep her?"
"Yeah, if she'll have us." Letty kissed him with so much ardor that they both almost forgot to breathe.
"I love you." She exhaled dreamily.
"Right back at you." Dom said before bringing her into another embrace.
