Note: This was written for the Zexal Flash Bingo challenge, for the prompt, "Mizael".

Thomas was not pleased to see someone familiar coming towards him. Partly it was because he was naturally unsociable, and partly it was because he wasn't certain that he trusted the former Barians. Mostly, it was because what he was doing was embarrassing and he didn't want anyone to see him. He hoped the boy would walk past without recognizing him.

He didn't. He stopped in place, fixing Thomas with his cool blue eyes.

"You are one of the sons of Byron Acrlight," he said.

"And you used to be a Barian," said Thomas, just as coolly.

"I am Mizael, a Barian Emperor," said the boy, raising his chin. "I just happen to be living as a human."

"Uh-huh," said Thomas. "Well, it was great catching up with you, but I have to go..."

"In such a hurry?" asked Mizael, raising an eyebrow. "Are you so intimidated by me? I admit, I am a superior specimen of a human being."

Thomas snorted. "You wish."

"Then explain to me why you appear to be so nervous in my presence," said Mizael. "If you are not intimidated by my superior strength, dueling skill, and exemplary good looks, then what troubles you?"

Thomas gritted his teeth. Who did this character think he was? All right, he was a strong duelist, and he wasn't any slouch in the looks department, but he didn't have to boast about it.

"Nowhere that would interest you," he said.

Mizael looked amused. "Oh, but I'm curious now."

"Fine," said Thomas, rolling his eyes. "If you must know, I'm going to a spa."

Mizael gave him a quizzical look. "What is a 'spa'?"

"You don't know what a spa is?" Thomas repeated. "Some superior human you are. A spa is... well, they do facials and massages and manicures and things." Defensively, he added, "I have a televised duel tomorrow. I have to look my best."

To his surprise, Mizael didn't seem inclined to give him a hard time. In fact, he looked fascinated.

"So, this 'spa' is a place where other people attend your physical appearance?" he asked.

"Well, yeah," said Thomas.

"Then I insist you take me with you," said Mizael. "This is clearly the sort of establishment a superior human patronizes."

"Fine, whatever," said Thomas.

He started walking to the spa, trusting Mizael to follow. When they reached their destination, he stood back and watched Mizael peruse the options.

"I'll have the Royalty Deluxe package," he told the receptionist. "And another for my companion."

Thomas blinked. That was the most expensive package on the menu.

"Where are you getting money for this?" he asked.

"Nasch gave me this card," said Mizael, holding up a credit card. "He said to use it to buy the things I need."

Thomas grinned. "Awesome. Hey, get us some fruit juice, too, will you?"

A few minutes later, enjoying a lovely massage paid for by Shark's money, Thomas smiled and considered that his new friend might just be a superior human being after all.
