AN: Not sure how I came to this story, but no matter.
Max licked his lips for a moment as he considered Donny's question and fiddled about with his black tie, which he was sure had managed to slip out of position yet again. Then he ran his hands down his dark navy jacket, smoothing out more imaginary creases and fiddled about with the buttons his dark navy waistcoat. Finally he rearranged his white shirt collar once more.
"A little," he admitted and suddenly his mouth felt incredibly dry. Going out to see the world, facing Emperor Griffon and various other monsters and minions seemed positively tame compared to what he was about to go in and do. The mine was practically a cakewalk in comparison.
"Relax willya?" Donny said with amusement and he twitched as he tried to fix his own suit. Max smirked at his obvious discomfort. "You love her; she loves you and I KNOW you two fit together like two sides of a jigsaw. Besides, you saved the world. After that, this ought to be a piece a cake."
"Right now, I think I might prefer the monsters," Max replied with a nervous smile. Donny raised an eyebrow and looked at him in disbelief.
"You do know your fiancé would probably kill you if you ran for it? And then me afterwards for letting you get away?"
"Yeah, somehow I think I'd rather avoid that," Max replied with a nervous chuckle. "You have the ring?" Donny nodded and put his hand on the church door.
"Better not leave her waiting. Go for it!" he said with a smile and he opened the door. Waiting for him was the woman he had fallen in love with all those years ago, the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She looked beautiful in her long white wedding dress and he felt a surge of love for her. It was funny really, finding the love of his life was the last thing on his mind when he set out on his adventure all those years ago, but find her he did. And he never regretted it either, through all the adventures and beyond either. He took a deep breath.
"Wish me luck," he said and Donny patted him on the back.
"You won't need it. Lin's as crazy for you as you are for her. Now go and do what you've been preparing for all this time," Donny replied and Max walked forward. For better or worse, this was one adventure he didn't want to miss.
