"What?" Ren regarded Yui with fury. If she wasn't going to kill the girl on behalf of the innocent Ren, that all changed now. It took extreme self restraint not to just tear the girl's neck apart in that moment.

"The best part was…" Yui ghosted her fingers over her heart, "I was the one to kill her. It even left a scar."

Ren demanded proof, she wouldn't be told such lies without anything to show for it. So Yui struggled to her feet and unbuttoned her uniform jacket, followed by her white blouse until her pale skin was revealed. Just as she had said, a thin silver scar was etched right on her chest where a blade had previously rested. Ren swayed and stepped back a little in shock. She knew Cordelia had planned to use a human vessel for herself but dying was never part of the plan.

"No, my master was strong… She couldn't have fallen to a human girl like you. You lie to me!" Memories of Cordelia flashed past her as she whined and tried to shut out the truth. The shadows around her were dancing across the grass and up along the trees. Gaining control of her emotions, her white fur bristled and she set her sights on Yui.

"She said it would just be me and her once I got rid of them. She told me they were the only ones between us!" Although she could not cry, her eyes revealed the anguish she was going through, the sorrow that was slowly devouring her heart.

Yui realized that "they" were the brothers and that Cordelia had used Ren in order to get rid of them. "She never had the intention to kill them herself, that's why she waited around instead of going after them. She was waiting for you… " Yui backed up but slipped on the grass, falling to the ground. She looked up and saw Ren facing her, her fangs inches from her face.

"You're a smart one. The amount of times I had wanted to consume you as you slept beside little Ren was unbearable. But I didn't know if my master had plans for you so I kept you alive!"

The wolf's eyes shone in the dark like two blue orbs, and to Yui, it felt like the wolf's body took up every inch of space around her.

"She knew someday they would rise against her and so she ordered me to get rid of them… but my master's lord found Ren one night and made us sleep for a very long time" She could feel her rage begin to overpower the previous remorse she felt.

Yui tried to back herself up but her skirt was caught under Ren's claws. "And now you have gotten yourself involved in everything. Had she not grown attached, I could've killed you sooner and you wouldn't have had to witness this all. Stupid girl, this will be all your fault."

Yui could do nothing but watch in complete terror as Ren opened her mouth and went for her neck. Her bloodied fangs drew closer and closer as time seemed to slow for the girl. She could see bits of flesh wedged in the wolf's jaws and imagined that is what she would be reduced to any moment now.

"Yui, Run!" A streak of white-silver hair raced towards Ren and slammed her off of Yui before her throat would have been torn to pieces. Subaru had the wolf pinned to the ground and Yui saw the other brothers, battered and bloody, run at the wolf as well.

"Go before you make Your's Truly upset." Ayato laughed but coughed up blood as he bit into Ren's hide.

The wolf howled and shook the vampires off of her but they instantly got back up and tried to keep her down. Her shadows were barely controllable at this point, her emotions unstable. She was being guided by instinct now, her only objective was to kill or be killed.

Yui gulped and wiped away tears that ran messily down her face.

"I won't leave you again! I won't leave any of you to die" Ren's ears perked up at this and she thrashed madly around to free herself. With only a split second of the brothers being dazed, she leaped over them ran straight for Yui.

"If killing you will lead me to accomplishing my master's order then you will be the first to die!" The brothers shouted for Yui to move aside but they weren't fast enough. They saw the great wolf tackled the girl, bringing both to the ground in a heap.

"Yui!" They yelled and rushed to them. As kanato reached with a bloody hand, Ren's body began to move oddly. Realizing Yui was trapped beneath the body they heaved the wolf from her. Yui lay gasping with a blood soaked chest and arms, her eyes wide with shock.

Looking over the wolf, there was a small blade, Subaru's knife, wedged into her chest. It was the same knife that had killed her beloved master. Her once white fur took a pink hue and her eyes were dull. The body lay there, it's breathing stilled and heartbeat no more.

Yui didn't know who it was but someone wrapped their arms around her and she cried. She cried for the pain the brothers were forced to go through, cried for the suffering little Ren lived through with Cordelia, and cried over the death of a friend.

Unexpectedly, the shadows gathered around the wolf and ate away at her flesh, leaving her to little Ren's form, except her tail and ears were gone. Yui glanced up to see a ghostly wolf standing over the now human girl. Her form wavered as the breeze passed through her, her body no longer one of the living realm.

"I sought after an absolute love for this child. It was her only wish and yet I foolishly put her in harm's way." She rubbed her aparational snout against the girl's cheek, "Take care of this one won't you, I have a feeling she doesn't need me anymore." She turned from the company and walked directly into a cast of moonlight. Her body slowly dissipated, her head being the final part to go as she took one last look at her counterpart before being disappearing completely.

Yui sniffled and dragged herself over to the real Ren's sleeping form. She hugged the girl and whispered, "She will never be alone. I promise."

"Yui, hurry!" Ren giggled as Yui caught her from behind.

"If you don't stop running your ribbons will never stay put" Yui once again tied Ren's pink ribbons in bows that held up her long twintails. Ren pouted but let Yui fix them and smiled once she saw the brothers approaching from around the mansion. They met up by the limo and all shuffled in.

Everyone was chatting and Yui turned to Ren who sat on the opposite side of Ayato.

"What do you want to do today?" She asked and Ren immediately replied,

"I want what they call ICE CREAM!" She chanted 'ice cream' over and over like an overjoyed child until Ayato placed a hand over her mouth.

He smirked and told her, "Only if you share with Your's Truly" Ren sulked at the idea of sharing and stuck her tongue out at him, the car then becoming filled with laughter. Reiji piped in about not getting lost in the city but Ren was too distracted to hear anything he was saying. She was looking outside the window at the towering buildings that could be seen from a distance.

"I've always wanted to see the city" She said to no one in particular but heard someone whisper back to her.

"Always follow your heart's desires… " A gust of wind danced around the limo, and if one were to look hard enough, they could see a white wolf running on the current. It's graceful movements guiding the car down the road until it finally dashed off into the sky, becoming one with the clouds.
