Misty quickly left Ash's room bidding him a goodbye and ran all the way back to her dormitory. As soon as she opened the doors she stopped to catch her breath. Her eyes widened when she saw Dawn talking to the one person that she had hoped she'd never meet. Kenny.

This is so not good, she thought to herself. She went to walk slower to see if she could catch part of their conversation.

"Oh so you've only been at this school for one semester?" Kenny asked her, still holding onto one of his bags.

Dawn nodded her head with a friendly smile. "Yeah. It's a lot different from my old school. People treat me as an equal here since they have the same amount of money that I have. So I try to blend in a bit more…" she finished awkwardly since she really didn't know what to say. They have been talking for about fifteen minutes about random topics and she doesn't want to be rude and just walk away.

"Blend in? Yeah right. With a pretty face like yours I'm sure it's pretty hard for you to just 'blend in'," he said in a charming manner.

Dawn's cheeks turned pink from the compliment. Before she could say anything Misty jumped into the conversation, glaring at Kenny harshly.

"Hey Blue," Misty greeted with a small smirk.

Kenny immediately felt his eyebrows go up in surprise and suddenly felt like he was a deer caught in headlights.

Dawn turned to look at Misty and smiled with relief from being rescued by her friend. "Mist! Hey! I haven't seen you all day!"

"I know. Today has just been a weird day…" she chuckled slightly, glancing back and forth between Dawn and Kenny.

Dawn immediately noticed the situation and felt rude for not introducing the two. "This is—"

"Kenny it's been a long time," Misty said, sneering at him while crossing her arms over her chest.

He cleared his throat awkwardly before responding, "Misty."

Dawn looked back and forth between the two of them in confusion. She didn't know that they knew each other. But before she could say anything else, Kenny started speaking.

"It was nice meeting you Dawn. See you around," he said with a flirty smile and walked away from the two girls.

Dawn turned towards Misty and saw the look of annoyance towards Kenny. Before she could question this any further, Misty interrupted.

"You need to stay away from him!" said Misty in a panic.

Dawn's eyes widened at her friend.

"Why?" she asked feeling confused.

"Well, let's just say you both have something in common…" Misty said, with uneasiness in her tone.

Dawn stayed quiet waiting for her friend to continue. When she didn't she motioned with her hand impatiently.

Misty let out a huge sigh. "Paul."

"Paul?" Dawn questioned, still not understanding what she meant.

"Kenny and Paul used to be best friends… Paul used to be a quiet kid in school, but as you know his reputation of being a man-whore? Yeah, blame that on Kenny. Do you remember when Paul got mad at you for stealing his money? Kenny did that their entire friendship. That's one of the reasons why Paul doesn't tell people he has money," Misty finished her long rant, waiting for Dawn's reaction.

Dawn gulped slowly. Processing her words. They both started to walk towards their dorm room. Misty still waiting for Dawn to say anything, anything at all.

"Paul broke my heart. He doesn't get a say on who I hang out with. Whatever beef or past they have with each other doesn't concern me at all…" she said after a long while.

Misty frowned at her reply.

"But don't you care about him at all? Kenny is bad news. What he did to Paul affected this whole school. I know I can't tell you what to do but all I'm saying is be careful. You might get mixed up into something really bad…" she warned her apprehensively.

Dawn stopped walking and turned to look at her curiously.

"What happened that was so bad?"

Misty bit her lip, debating if it was her place to tell her or not.

"It's not my story to tell…"

"Then why bother giving me a warning if you can't even tell me what was so 'bad' that happened?" Dawn said feeling slightly irritated.

Misty was taken aback by Dawn's attitude. She didn't know what to think of it. She didn't want to see Paul get heartbroken seeing Dawn hang around with his ex-best friend and she also didn't want to see Dawn get hurt by Kenny. Kenny is a bad, very bad guy. He didn't want her to be taken advantage of like herself, but Misty felt like she couldn't tell her that...

"I don't want him to hurt you."

Dawn let out a slight scoff. "Hurt me? Like the way Paul hurt me? Well Mist lemme just say it's way too late for that. I'm not a little girl. I can handle myself just fine, thank you very much. I don't need you or anyone else telling me otherwise," she snapped.

Misty stared at her in disbelief.

"Well excuse me for trying to be a good friend and look out for you," she replied back with sass.

"A good friend wouldn't have kissed their supposedly best friend's boyfriend," she fought back. But her eyes widened in realization of what she had said. "Wait, Mist…"

Misty stared at her in disbelief. Didn't they talk about this? She felt her eyes start to water as she turned around to walk in the opposite direction of Dawn. She knew it was too good to be true when her and Dawn suddenly became friends again.

Dawn let out a groan of frustration. She was angry and she said some things she didn't mean. Or did she really mean them? She opened up the door to her room and plopped down on her bed, burying her face into the pillow.

She knew that she didn't mean the words she said to Misty. She was just talking from a broken heart. She is tired of walking around this school not knowing everything that had happened in the past. Especially with Paul. They were boyfriend and girlfriend and supposedly in love and she finds out that there is something she doesn't know about him? Figures, he wouldn't tell her his complete past when she opened up her heart and soul to him. Maybe he didn't really love her after all…

The next morning before class

Dawn was walking in a daze. She didn't get much sleep last night because of the horrible talk she had with Misty. But she also couldn't get Paul off of her mind. She knows she shouldn't be thinking of him, but she couldn't help feeling curious about what had happened between him and Kenny. What was so bad? Why did she have to avoid Kenny at all costs? She knew she didn't really care enough to be around him, but what was really bothering her was the fact of not knowing something about the person she cared about most. Why didn't he tell her? What was he hiding?

Dawn was so caught up in her own thoughts that she bumped into someone, almost falling on the floor. But before she could hit the ground a strong grip held her steady. Her eyes widened as she looked up at her savior.

Kenny.

She felt her throat go dry. Of course it had to be him. Because fate was this cruel, right?

"Um—thanks…" she stuttered nervously, not knowing how to really react around him. Was he really bad news? He didn't seem like a bad guy right now…

Kenny let out a slight laugh, letting go of her as he placed his hands behind his head with an aloof look on his face.

"You know one of us will end up getting hurt if we keep bumping into each other like this."

Dawn let out a nervous giggle. "I'm sorry. I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings again," she admitted sheepishly.

He waved her off nonchalantly. "Nah, it's cool. So where you headed? Mind if I walk you to class?" he asked her with a grin.

She bit her lip not really knowing how to deny him. So she just nodded her head and they both started walking, holding a small conversation.

Giselle was heading to her first class that day. She suddenly stopped in her tracks seeing Dawn and Kenny walking and conversing with each other.

"Well, things are definitely spicing up here…" she mumbled quietly to herself.

Ursula appeared out of nowhere, now standing beside Giselle.

"Well at least this has nothing to do with me. I can now see why you stopped trying to take her down. You can't break what's already broken."

Giselle turned to look over at Ursula. She let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Well I'm glad you've joined the semi good side. Come on let's go make fun of some freshmen."

And with that they both walked away from the soon to be soap opera.

Dawn was laughing at Kenny's story. "What no way! You can't be serious. You did not come up with the hairstyle the 'man bun'."

Kenny was laughing too. "I did too! I even tried out growing my facial hair. Can't you tell?" he said, pointing at his small scruff on his chin.

She let out another loud laugh and squinted her eyes at him.

"Nope. Nothing. I guess you aren't a real man," she said, sticking her tongue out playfully at him. Dawn didn't think Kenny was a bad guy. It's honestly been so long since she felt like she had laughed. It felt good.

Kenny scoffed playfully, nudging her gently.

"You need glasses. You can definitely see there is fuzz on my face."

She let out another giggle and rolled her eyes, stopping at the door of her first class.

"And you need a reality check. But this is my stop. So… I'll see you later," Dawn said, with a small smile.

Kenny had a huge grin on his face and bid his goodbyes while continuing to walk to his first class.

Dawn walked into the classroom with a smile on her face, but it immediately faded when she saw Misty sitting back in her old seat next to Paul. Paul was sitting next to her with far off look on his face. Once their eyes met, he quickly looked away. She let out a soft sigh, slowly walking up to them.

"Uh, hey Mist…" she greeted awkwardly.

Misty looked up at Dawn with a harsh glare.

"Sorry, but if I remember correctly only my friends call me that and we are no longer friends. So why don't you just walk away now." Misty responded sarcastically.

Dawn let out a huge sigh and then turned to Paul. She hesitates a bit before speaking.

"Are you ignoring me as well?" she asked him.

Paul raised an eyebrow at her. "Aren't you the one ignoring me? I don't know why Misty's upset with you and frankly I don't really care."

Misty scoffed, turning to look at Paul. "You will find out sooner or later why I'm angry and I'm pretty sure you will be pretty pissed about it yourself."

Dawn narrowed her eyes at Misty's response. She turned to walk back to her seat and sat down. She had the slightest feeling that Ash is going to be upset with her as well.

Ash walked into the classroom as if on Que and saw Misty sitting in his seat. He thought it was weird that she wasn't sitting with Dawn so he walked up to her and Paul.

"Um, why are you in my seat Mist?" he asked, feeling genuinely confused.

"You can have your seat back when Dawn stops being a bitch." Misty replied bitterly.

Ash raised his eyebrow at her response, turning his gaze to Paul for an explanation.

Paul rolled his eyes and grunted in annoyance before speaking.

"It's probably their time of month. How should I know what they are fighting about? I have other shit to worry about."

Ash let out a chuckle. "Ten bucks says we're both at the hospital by the end of the day," he joked.

"Yeah? Why don't you pay someone ten bucks to punch yourself in the face?" Paul responded rudely.

"Fair enough," Ash said, walking away to sit down next to Dawn. Once he did he asked the question that was on his mind.

"What's up with you and Misty?"

Dawn looked at him, feeling a bit surprised that Misty hasn't told him yet.

"You don't know?"

"Would I be asking you if I did?" he said with a slight chuckle.

Dawn bit her lip. "It's a long story that I don't really want to talk about right now," she replied a bit hastily. She then decided to change the subject once the teacher walked in. "Oh, look! Class is starting. Shhhhh!" And with that she faced the board, turning away from Ash completely.

Ash furrowed his eyebrows looking at her oddly and then turned to face the board as well.

The bell rung, signaling that class was now over. Dawn collected her things and as soon as she walked out of her class she saw Kenny waiting outside for her. She raised her eyebrows in surprise. She didn't expect to see him waiting for her.

"When I said see you later, I didn't mean right after class," she told him with a slight uncomfortable laugh.

He grinned down at her. "Oh c'mon you know you missed my presence around."

She rolled her eyes and they started walking together.

"How can I miss someone I barely know?" she asked him, shaking her head slightly. She pulled her books closer to her chest, not really understanding why Kenny was talking to her.

"Ouch! You're breaking my little heart Deedee. And here I thought we were becoming friends?"

She frowned at the horrible nickname. "Don't call me that!" she pushed him, while laughing slightly. She honestly didn't really know what to make of this so called friendship.

Kenny raised his hands up in defense. "Alright, alright. So what are you doing tomorrow?" he asked as they continue to walk besides each other.

Dawn glanced at him with dumbfound expression. "Um… school? We aren't allowed to go out on weekdays…"

Kenny smirked at her. "And sex before marriage is supposedly a sin, and I'm assuming you're not a virgin," he replied back sarcastically.

She scoffed at him, turning her head away from him. "I don't see that having anything to do with being allowed out on school days. Besides I have homework to do," she said as an excuse. She didn't want to sound rude with just giving him a blunt no thanks.

Kenny rolled his eyes at her. "C'mon! Don't be such a wuss! Live a little!" he said, trying to convince her.

Ash and Misty were waiting outside the classroom for Paul. Ash's eyes widened as they watched Dawn and Kenny converse like old friends, and walk with each other.

"What the hell…?" he said, clearly not expecting Dawn to associate herself with that asshole Kenny.

Misty turned to Ash. "Now do you see why I'm pissed at her? I've told her that he was bad news and how Paul has a past with him. Apparently it's 'not her problem'," she said while rolling her eyes, still pretty peeved with Dawn.

"Does she not know how dangerous he is?! Or what the fuck he did to Paul?! Or what he almost did to you?! I'm going to go talk to her right now!" he snapped angrily. He was about to start to walk towards them, but Misty grabbed his arm, pulling him back. He glanced at her with an annoyed look.

"What?" he snapped again.

Misty rolled her eyes at Ash's behavior.

"I didn't tell her what he almost did to me. Besides we have to stay by Paul's side 24/7 to prevent him from seeing her as long as we can, idiot!"

Paul finally walked out of class. Ash and Misty immediately cut their conversation short, when they noticed his presence. He noticed how awkwardly quiet it got and he stared at them oddly.

"Should I bother asking why you two are acting odd? Or is just going to waste my time?" he mumbled to them. When they didn't respond he just shook his head, walking in the same direction as Dawn and Kenny.

Misty and Ash simultaneously grabbed Paul's arms.

"No! You can't go that way!" Shouted Misty in a panic.

He shook off the grip they had on him, glaring at his friends impatiently.

"You can't go that way because… uh…" Misty started, glancing at Ash, her eyes pleading for help.

"Uh…" he started, quickly searching his mind for an excuse. "A kid just sneezed! Yeah! Right there! You almost walked into the flying germs man!"

Paul faked a gasp. "A kid sneezed? Evacuate the school! We're all going to die," he said dryly, rolling his eyes and beginning to walk in the same direction.

Ash pulled him back again. "Did you not listen to a thing the teacher talked about in health class? Swine flu travels from a person to another in a second."

Paul rolled his eyes again. "Unless the swine flu has something to do with sex diseases, I don't really give a shit what she said. Now for the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to walk the other way while you two go see the school's therapist." And with that he walked away in the other direction, mumbling to himself how he needed new friends.

Ash glanced back at Misty. "You think it's his time of month too?"

She cracked a smile, while rolling her eyes at him.

"I'll see you later Ash," she said with a slight laugh. She kissed his cheeks, and started to head to her next class.

Ash watches her walk away with a goofy grin on his face and then starts to head to his next class as well.

Giselle catches up with Misty. "So, Dawn is friends with Kenny. Do you think he's going to have his way with her, like he did with you?"

Misty rolled her eyes. "He didn't have his way with me. I have no idea where in the world you even heard that from. But either way it's none of your business, Giselle."

Giselle raised her hands in defense. "Hey, I'm not that bad guy anymore. Neither is Ursula. But I think you have a problem in your hands. You might not be his only victim. She could get seriously hurt. And Paul might end up doing something he regrets. Just be careful…" she warned, and then walked away.

Misty frowned at the thought of Kenny trying to hurt Dawn. She closed her eyes not wanting to relive the memory of Kenny almost taking advantage of her when she was drunk. Thank Arceus, Ash had saved her that night. That was the night she had realized to herself that she was in love with him and she would never forget that night.

Just when she thought everything was going to start to be okay again, Kenny just had to appear and ruin everything once again. She shook the horrible thoughts from her head and continued to walk to her next class.

Paul sat at his seat, waiting for the teacher to arrive. He heard two familiar laughs. One sounded like the girl he loved and the other. Well the other he didn't want to be reminded of… ever again. He looked up at the door and he felt his face pale instantly. He clenched his fists, feeling very angry. He looked like he had just seen a ghost he had murdered. Or wants to murder in this case...

Kenny was talking to Dawn at the door and he smirked in amusement when noticed Paul sitting in the front of the classroom. He waved at him arrogantly, and slightly laughed at how tense Paul was.

Dawn raised an eyebrow at Kenny, wondering who he was waving at. She turned around to see who it was and her face paled when she saw who it was. She couldn't help but feel guilty. She felt horrible. Even though she wasn't doing this to spite or hurt Paul in any way she could see how badly this had affected him. It's not like she asked to hangout with Kenny he kept on just showing up everywhere she went. He was clearly shocked and pissed by the look on his face. And then Dawn wondered to herself…

What the hell happened between the two of them?
